RUSSELL HICKS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Russell Hicks was born on July 4th, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland with the birth name Edward Russell Hicks. Over the course of his career he would add over 300 credits to his resume.
Some of his early film roles include, D.W. Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation" (1915) starring Lillian Gish, Mae Marsh, Miriam Cooper, Ralph Lewis and Henry B. Walthall, "Before Morning" (1933), "Gentlemen are Born" (1934) co-starring Franchot Tone, Ann Dvorak, Margaret Lindsay, Jean Muir, Dick Foran, Charles Starrett, Addison Richards, Henry O'Neill and Ross Alexander, "Living on Velvet" (1935) starring with Kay Francis, Warren William, George Brent, Henry O'Neill and Edgar Kennedy and "Hearts in Bondage" (1936) co-starring James Dunn, Mae Clark, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Warner Richmond, David Manners, Henry B. Walthall, Smiley Burnette, Lane Chandler, Charlotte Henry, Pat Flaherty, Ben Alexander and Irving Pichel.
The majority of characters he portrayed as an actor included, attorneys, judges and business executives. Russell Hicks married once to Virginia Baker and they had five daughters together. Hicks passed away on June 1st, 1957 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from a heart attack.
