ROSEMARY DECAMP BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Rosemary De Camp was born on November 14th, 1910 in Prescott, Arizona. Her career began in radio and on stage. Her acting career began as an understudy on Broadway. series with the same name. On radio, De Camp developed the vocal timbre that enabled her to portray a variety and age-range of characters. De Camp was on several radio soap operas and anthologies before settling into the role of Judy Price on the Dr. Christian series in 1937. She did attend college at Mills College, San Francisco, California. With all this radio experience she now decided to try her hand at the film industry and therefore, moved to Hollywood.
Her film debit was on, "Cheers For Miss. Bishop" (1941). Majority of her film work was done under Warner Brothers with films such as, "Eyes in the Night" (1942), Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942), "Jungle Book" (1942) and "Rhapsody in Blue" (1945).
De Camp was also very involved as a television actress. She was a regular on, "The Bob Cummings Show" (1961), "The Life of Riley" (1949), the NBC sitcom, "Ensign O'Toole" (1962) and "That Girl" (1966). She also played Bob Cummings' levelheaded sister Margaret in "Love That Bob" (1955-59).
Alongside her film and television career, many viewers were aware of her from her commercials for a laundry products called 20 Mule Team Borax. She was the permanent spokesperson for this product.
De Camp did retire from the industry for several years but then made a come back in 1981 for a cameo part in a horror spoof called, "Saturday the 14th".
De Camp passed away at the age of 90 on February 20th, 2001 in Torrance, California from complications of Pneumonia.
She married one time to John Ashton Shidler in 1941 and they remained together until he passed away in 1998. Together the couple had 4 daughters, Margaret, Martha, Valerie and Nita.
