ROBERT MIDDLETON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Robert Middleton was born on May 13th, 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio with the birth name Samuel Messer. He received his college education from the university of Cincinnati as well as the Carnegie Institute of Technology where he studied music.
It was his involvement in music and working as a radio announcer that first peaked his interest in acting. By the early 1950's, he had begun finding work as a stage actor and soon was appearing on the Broadway stage in such productions as, "Ondine".
By the mid 1950's, Middleton had broken into the Hollywood arena adding television and film credits to his resume. Some of his more well known film roles included, "The Silver Chalice" (1954) starring Paul Newman and Jack Palance, "The Desperate Hours" (1955) starring Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March, "The Court Jester" (1956) starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone and Angela Lansbury, "Friendly Persuasion" (1956) starring Gary Cooper, Dorothy McGuire, Anthony Perkins, Peter Mark Richman and Marjorie Main, "Love Me Tender" (1956) starring Elvis Presley, Debra Paget and Richard Egan, "The Tarnished Angels" (1958) starring Rock Hudson, Dorothy Malone, Robert Stack and Jack Carson, "Career" (1959) starring Dean Martin, Anthony Franciosa, Carolyn Jones and Shirley MacLaine, "For Those Who Think Young" (1964) starring James Darren, Pamela Tiffin, Paul Lynde, Tina Louise and Bob Denver, "Which Way to the Front?" (1970) starring Jerry Lewis, Jan Murray, Joe Besser, Paul Winchell and Kathleen Freeman and "The Lincoln Conspiracy" (1977) co-starring John Dehner, Bradford Dillman and John Anderson.
In addition to film he added such television series work as a recurring character role on, "The Honeymooners" (1955) starring Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph and appearances on, "The Jackie Gleason Show", "Appointment with Adventure", "The Joseph Cotten Show", "The Monroes", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Law and Mr. Jones", "Bonanza", "Get Smart", "Rawhide", "Burke's Law", Mission:Impossible" and "Perry Mason".
He married only once to Roberta Middleton in 1951 and they had two children before the marriage came to an end in 1956. He did not remarry and on June 14th. 1977, Robert Middleton passed away in Hollywood, California after suffering from congestive heart failure at the age of sixty six.
