ROBERT LANSING BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Robert Lansing was born on June 5th, 1928 in San Diego, California with the birth name Robert Howell Brown. He began working as a stage actor in New York City and was soon offered a job to join a stock company in Michigan, however first he had to join the Actors Equity Association. Since there was already another Robert Brown in the organization, he changed his last name to Lansing, which is the state capital of Michigan and hence his stage name from there on out, Robert Lansing.
He first appeared on Broadway in 1951 in the play, "Stalag 17" and he then began to get involved as a film actor as well. Throughout his career, he would alter between the two to keep his interest in acting and always challenging himself. One of his most memorable film performances was in 1959 in the film, "4-D Man" for which he delivered a great performance.
As he progressed into the 60's his stage and film career were already successful, that Lansing decided to see what it was like to work as a television actor. His first television series was playing a detective in, "8th Precinct" (1961) followed by working on NBC's, "The Outlaws". He remained quite busy with television work making appearances on such shows as, "The Eleventh Hour" (1963), "The Mod Squad" (1965), "I Spy" (1965) and "Star Trek" (1968).
Some of his most notable film roles were in, "A Gathering of Eagles" (1963), "An Eye For an Eye" (1966), and "The Grissom Gang" (1971).
He continued to work in all three realms of acting and made his final return to television in, "King Fu: The Legend Continues" (1992-1994). Sadly, three weeks before the final episode aired, Lansing passed away at the age of sixty six on October 23rd, 1994 from cancer. He is interred at Union Field Cemetery in Ridgewood, Queens.
Robert Lansing only had one son, Robert Frederick Orin Lansing from when he married fellow actress Emily McLaughlin who had been a regular series actress on General Hospital. After the couple divorced he married for a second time to Gari Hardy, however the couple did not remain together for very long, they did however have a daughter, Alice Lucille Lansing. Robert then married for a third and final time to Anne Pivar and they remained together until he passed away.
