ROB LOWE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Rob Lowe was born on March 17th, 1964 in Charlottesville, Virginia with the birth name Robert Hepler Lowe as an only child, born to parents, Barbara K Helper and Charles Davis Lowe. His family raised him in Dayton, Ohio and as a young boy he became involved in modeling and as a teenage boy he became involved in acting. His family later relocated to Los Angeles, California and he graduated from Santa Monica High School.
In the mid 1980’s, he became part of a group of young actors known as, “The Brat Pack” which included other aspiring male and female actors such as, Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson.
Prior to really establishing his career he had an issue with drug and alcohol abuse and even did twenty hours of community service for being involved sexually with a minor.
Early on in his career he was seen on the television movie, “Thursday’s Child” (1983) and earned his first Golden Globe nomination. Other film roles that followed were, “Schoolboy”, “Class”, “The Outsiders”, “St. Elmo’s Fire”, “About Last Night” and “Square Dance” (1987) for which he earned another nomination for, “Best Supporting Actor”.
Hollywood had taken notice of him quite early on in his career. He was listed as one of the twelve, “Promising Actors of 1984” in John Willis Screen World and was also voted in the year 2000 as, “One of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People magazine.
Some of his more well known roles were appearances in such films as, “Wayne’s World” (1992), “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” (1997) and “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” (1999). He was also a regular on the hit television series, “The West Wing” (1999) but left the show to try two other pilots that both failed.
In the early 2000’s he did find success on television appearing on such series as, “Salem’s Lot” (2004) and “Beach Girls” (2005). He was also cast in the independent film, “Thank You for Smoking” followed by the television movie, “The Perfect Day” (2006) and the films, “Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming” (2006). Lowe also worked for the first three seasons on the series, “Brothers & Sisters” (2006-2010).
Rob Lowe’s latest appearances have been on the biography, “Brat Pack: Where Are They Now?" (2010), “Potomac”, a reality television series, the voice of Captain Marvel in, “Young Justice" and a regular on the series, “Parks and Recreation”.
He has been married only once to Sheryl Berkoff whom he wed on July 22nd, 1991 and has two children with and remains married today living in Santa Barbara, California. He is involved in a number of charitable organizations such as being the spokesperson in 2000 for the Lee National Denim Day fundraiser which helps raise money for breast cancer research.
