RICHARD BENJAMIN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Richard Benjamin was born on May 22nd, 1938 in New York City, New York.  He attended the High School of Performing Arts and then earned his college degree from Northwestern University.  He began his involvement in acting working as a stage actor.
 
He went on to marry another actress, Paula Prentiss in 1961 and they have two children together and remain married today.  She was able to establish a decent television and film career pretty early on, however, it took him much longer to make a name for himself in the industry.

After doing a number of stage productions, Benjamin began acting on such television series as, "He & She" (1967-1968) and roles in the films, "Goodbye Columbus" (1969), "Catch 22" (1970), "Diary of a Mad Housewife" (1970), "The Marriage of a Young Stockbroker" (1971) and "Portnoy's Complaint" (1972).
 
Finally in 1975 he earned recognition when he won a Golden Globe Award for his role in, "The Sunshine Boys".  Other more prominent roles soon followed such as in the film "Love at First Bite" (1979).
 
Along with now earning a decent reputation as an actor he began to work on the other side of the industry as a director.  Some of these projects included, "My Favorite Year" (1982), "City Heat" 91984), "The Money Pit" (1986), "Mermaids" (1990) and  "A Little Thing Called Murder" (2006).
 
He still works as an actor in the industry with some of his latest roles being on, "Deconstruction Harry" (1997), "Marci" (2003), "Harry Poole Is Here" (2008) and the television series, "Pushing Daisies" (2008).
