REGINALD GARDINER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Reginald Gardiner was born on February 27th, 1903 in London, England with the birth name William Reginald Gardiner. He became very well remembered for his famously recorded monologue on and imitation of trains, played on a British radio program called Children's Favorites during the 1950's.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts he began working as a musical stage performer in London. By the late 1920's he began appearing on such films as the Alfred Hitchcock silent thriller, "The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog" (1927). He soon relocated to the United States and began appearing on the Broadway stage in such productions as, "An Evening with Beatrice Lillie and Reginald Gardnier".
By the mid 30's he began working in the Hollywood film arena adding such credits as, "Born to Dance" (1936) starring Eleanor Powell, James Stewart and Virginia Bruce, "A Damsel in Distress" (1937) starring Fred Astaire, Joan Fontaine, George Burns, Gracie Allen and Montague Love, "The Great Dictator" (1940) starring Charlie Chaplin, "A Yank in the R.A.F." (1941) also starring Tyrone Power, Betty Grable, John Sutton and Ralph Byrd, "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (1942) starring alongside Bette Davis, Monty Woolley, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante, Richard Travis and Billie Burke and "Cluny Brown" (1946) co-starring Charles Boyer, Jennifer Jones, Una O'Connor, Peter Lawford, Helen Walker, C. Aubrey Smith, Reginald Owen and Richard Haydn.
Along with establishing himself in America as a talented film actor he graced the television screen with appearances on such series as, "Mr. Belvedere", "Laramie", "77 Sunset Strip", "Burke's Law", "Hazel", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Batman", "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction".
Reginald Gardiner married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Wyn Richmond however this marriage was short-lived and he then wed Nadia Petrova in 1942 and they had one child together and remained married until he passed away on July 7th, 1980 in Westwood, California after suffering from a heart attack and pneumonia.
