RAY 'CRASH' CORRIGAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Ray 'Crash' Corrigan was born on February 14th, 1902 in Milwaukee Wisconsin with the birth name Raymond Benitz.  He was very physically fit and grew up as a very good athlete.  He began working in Hollywood as the personal fitness trainer to a number of movie stars.  He would get cast in a number of small parts and then in 1932 he got a break with two films, "Undersea Kingdom" and "The Leathernecks Have Landed". 
 
He was then offered an opportunity to work on a series of western movies playing the role of Tucson Smith in "The Three Mesquiteers" (1936).  Crash starred in twenty four pictures and in 1939 left the series to pursue other opportunities.  In 1940, he found work on another movie series called, "Range Busters" and he worked on twenty episodes. 
 
He closed out his career returning to films with roles in, "White Gorilla" (1947), "Killer Apes" (1953) and "It, the Terror from Beyond Space" (1958).  Ray then retired from the industry and became involved in a number of other businesses such as purchasing  a ranch located in the foothills of Simi Valley California, called, Corriganville which was used for filming television and western films.  On the weekends he would open it to the public and children could come watch stunt men in fights and meet some famous actors.   
 
Crash was given his nickname due to his physique and ability to undertake dangerous stunts while working in the industry.  He married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Rita Jane Smeal whom he divorced in 1954 after having three children.  His second marriage was to Elaine DuPont for just a short while. 
 
Ray 'Crash' Corrigan passed away on August 10th, 1976 in Brookings Harbor, Oregon from a heart attack.
