RAY COLLINS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Ray Collins was born on December 10th, 1889 in Sacramento, California, born to Lillie Bidwell and William C. Collins.  He first developed an interest in acting as a teenager and soon began to find work as a stage and radio actor.
 
He is most well known for his role on the television series, "Perry Mason" starring Raymond Burr, Barbara Hale, William Talman and William Hopper and portraying Lt. Arthur Tragg.  His career really began to take off when he began working on radio with Orson Welles Mercury Theatre.  He soon became a regular on, "The Mercury Theatre on the Air" Program.
 
By the early 40's he began to add a number of film credits to his resume such as, "Citizen Kane" (1941) starring Orson Welles, "The Magnificent Ambersons" (1942), "Leave Her to Heaven" (1945), the Academy Award winner for Best Picture "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946) starring Fredric March, Dana Andrews, Myrna Loy, Virginia Mayo and Teresa Wright, "Crack Up" (1946) starring Pat O'Brien and Claire Trevor, "The Man from Colorado" (1948) starring Glenn Ford, William Holden and Ellen Drew, "The Desert Song" (1953) starring Kathryn Grayson, Gordon MacRae and Raymond Massey, "Touch of Evil" (1958) starring Charlton Heston and Orson Welles and his final film role was in 1960 on, "I'll Give My Life" with Angie Dickinson.
 
In addition to his many film roles he also appeared on a variety of television series such as, "The Halls Of Ivy", "Father Knows Best", "Playhouse 90", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "You Are There" and "Climax!".
 
Ray Collins married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Margaret Marriott but this marriage ended in 1924.  He then married, Joan E. Oron in 1926 and they remained together until he passed away on July 11th, 1965 in Santa Monica, California after suffering from emphysema at the age of seventy five.
