PETER SELLERS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Peter Sellers was born on September 8th, 1925 in Southsea, Hampshire in England with the birth name Richard Henry Sellers.  His mother and father were employed in an acting company run by his grandmother, therefore he was exposed to the industry quite young.

During World War II he enlisted in the Royal Air Force and after he completed his service he took his musical and comedic talents to London.  He was soon doing voice work on, "The Goon Show" (1951-1960) and soon was working in the film industry on such films as, "Penny Points to Paradise" (1951), "Down Among the Z Men" (1952) and "The Ladykillers" (1955) which first helped him gain the attention of critics.

He was then cast in the film, "I'm All Right Jack" (1959) co-starring Ian Carmichael, Dennis Price, Richard Attenborough, Terry Thomas and Miles Malleson, which was a huge success and lead to some great roles in such films as, "Lolita" (1962) starring James Mason, Shelley Winters and Sue Lyon and "Dr. Strangelove" (1964) also starring George C. Scott, Slim Pickens, Keenan Wynn, Sterling Hayden and James Earl Jones, where he played three different characters and showed his comedic talent using three different accents.  Sellers received an Oscar nomination for his role in this film and more 'A' rated film roles followed such as, "The Pink Panther" starring as Inspector Jacques Clouseau with David Niven, Robert Wagner, Capucine and Claudia Cardinale, "A Shot in the Dark" with Elke Sommer, Herbert Lom and George Sanders and "The World of Henry Orient" starring alongside Paula Prentiss, Angela Lansbury, Tippy Walker, Merrie Spaeth, Phyllis Thaxter, Bibi Osterwald and Tom Bosley.

As his career entered into the 1970's he was not getting cast in as many films as he had begun to earn a bad reputation in the industry for being hard to work with.  He was still getting work, but mostly 'B' rated films such as, "Where Does It Hurt?" (1972) and made a couple television appearances.

Peter was able to earn back his reputation as a good actor when he was cast in, "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" (1976) and "The Revenge of the Pink Panther" (1978).  However, with ongoing suffering of health issues and already suffering one nearly fatal heart attack, Sellers collapsed from a massive heart attack on July 22nd, 1980 and t days later he passed away on July 24th in a London hospital at the age of fifty four.

He was survived by his fourth wife, Lynne Frederick and his three children from previous marriages.  First he married Anne Howe from 1952 through 1961 and together they had two children.  His second wife was Britt Ekland from 1964 through 1968 and he had another child with her.  He then married wife number three, Miranda Quarry from 1970-1974.

He was voted the 41st Greatest Movie Star of all time by Premiere Magazine.  Sellers left most of his estate valued at 4.5 million pounds to his fourth wife.
