PATRIC KNOWLES BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Patric Knowles was born on November 11th, 1911 in Yorkshire, England with the birth name Reginald Lawrence Knowles. At the age of fourteen he chose to run away from home and pursue a career as an actor. His family originally hoped for him to work in the family bookbinding business, however Knowles had his own dreams.
Eventually his family made him come home, however just a couple years later he left again and began to find work as a stage actor. After gaining a couple years experience in regional theater, Knowles broke into the British film industry.
Some of his early roles included, "Men of Tomorrow" (1932) starring Merle Oberon, Robert Donat, Emlyn Williams and Joan Gardner, "Norah O'Neale" (1934) co-starring Lester Matthews, Nancy Burne and Molly Lamont, "Regal Cavalcade" (1935) starring Marie Lohr, Hermione Baddeley, Owen Nares, Robert Hale, Austin Trevor, James Carew, Edward Chapman and Ronald Shiner and "Abdul the Damned" (1935) starring Nils Asther, Adrienne Ames, George Zucco, Fritz Kortner and John Stuart. Along with his film work in the early 1950's he began to turn his focus towards television work and soon was appearing on such series as, "Lights Out", "The Revlon Mirror Theatre", "The Whistler", "Star Stage", "The Millionaire", "Lux Playhouse", "77 Sunset Strip", "Maverick", "Klondike", "Checkmate", "Peter Gunn", "Hawaiian Eye", "Have Gun - Will Travel", "The Jack Benny Program", "The Jim Backus Show', "Gunsmoke", "Wagon Train", "The Barbara Stanwyck Show" and his last television series appearance was in 1971 on, "Marcus Welby, M.D.".
His final film roles were in, "Chisum" (1970) starring John Wayne, Forrest Tucker, Christopher George, Ben Johnson, Glenn Corbett, Geoffrey Duel, Andrew Prine, Bruce Cabot and Richard Jaeckel and "Douglas Whitehead" (1973).
In addition to his career as an actor, Patric Knowles also was a published author with the novel, "Even Steven".
