PAT O'BRIEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Pat O'Brien was born on November 11th, 1899 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the birth name William Joseph Patrick O'Brien to parents were William and Margaret O'Brien.  He was educated at the Marquette Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  

In 1923, O'Brien joined a traveling stock theater company and soon after he appeared in a Broadway play on the screen, "The Front Page" (1931).  Throughout the 1930's he appeared on the screen in a number of films such as, "Here Comes The Navy" (1934), "Devil Dogs of the Air" (1934), "Irish in Us" (1935), "Boy Meets Girl" (1938) and with James Cagney on, "Angels With Dirty Faces' (1938). 

O'Brien actually worked on a total of nine films with James Cagney over his era in the acting industry.  Some of the others not mentioned were, "Ceiling Zero" (1936), "Torrid Zone" (1940), "The Fighting 69th" (1940) and "Ragtime" (1981).

In the 1940's he worked with actor, Ronald Reagan on the film, "Knute Rockne-All American" (1940) followed by a variety of feature and supporting roles in films such as, "The Iron Major" (1943) and "Marine Raiders" (1944).

O'Brien was also heavily involved in television work in which he appeared on the following, "Climax" (1955-1956), "The Virginian" (1964-1967) and his final television appearance was on, "Happy Days" (1980-1982). 

O'Brien even though a very popular film and television star, never neglected his original love for working on the stage.  He continued throughout his career to work on touring theater productions and also starred with his wife, Eloise Taylor in a nightclub comedy act.

Pat O'Brien married only one time to Eloise Taylor from January 23rd 1931 through October 15th, 1983 when he passed away in Santa Monica, California from a heart attack.  The couple had four children together, three of which they adopted.
