PAT MORITA BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Pat Morita was born on June 28th, 1932 in Isleton, California with the birth name Noriyuki Morita.  He became a very well known Asian-American actor who many remember from the film, "The Karate Kid" (1984) portraying, Mr. Miyagi, for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
 
After graduating from Armijo High School in Fairfield, California he went on to pursue a career in entertainment.  His career as an actor first began working as a stand up comedian known to many as, "The Hip Nip".  He would perform throughout various nightclubs and was discovered by Redd Foxx who helped his career take off.
 
In 1967 he broke into the film industry first appearing on the big screen in, "Thoroughly Modern Millie".  Other roles soon followed such as in the film, "The Shakiest Gun in the West" (1968) starring Don Knotts, Barbara Rhoades, Don 'Red' Barry and Jackie Coogan, the television movie, "Evil Roy Slade" (1972) and on such television series as, "Sanford and Son", "M*A*S*H", "Happy Days", "Married With Children", "Starsky and Hutch" and "The Incredible Hulk" starring Bill Bixby.
 
He returned to also appear on, "The Karate Kid, Part II" (1986) and again in, "The Karate Kid, Part III" (1989) and "The Next Karate Kid" (1994) for which he earned a Golden Globe for his performance.  He also did voice over work for the Walt Disney animated film, "Mulan" (1998) and on an episode of the television cartoon, "Spongebob SquarePants".
 
Other television credits included, "O'Hara", "Magnum, P.I.," starring Tom Selleck, "Murder, She Wrote", "Baywatch", "Burke's Law" and "The Hughleys".  After he passed, two films he appeared in were released, "Royal Kill" (2009) and "Act Your Age" (2011). 
 
Pat Morita married three times throughout his lifetime, first to Kathleen Yamachi in 1953 and they had one child together before the marriage came to an end in 1967.  He then wed Yukiye Kitahara in 1970 and they had two children together before divorcing in 1989.  His third wife was Evelyn Guerrero whom he wed in 1994 and they stayed together until Morita passed away from natural causes on November 24th, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  His remains were cremated and are buried at Palm Green Valley Memorial Park in Las Vegas, Nevada.
