NORMAN FELL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Norman Fell was born on March 24th, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the birth name Norman Feld. After graduating from Central High School in Philadelphia, he went on to study at Temple University and earned a bachelors degree in drama. He took a break from pursuing a career as an actor during World War II where he was an Air Force tail gunner.
Upon completing his military service, Fell went back to pursuing a career as an actor by first studying more acting in New York City and found work on stage and small roles on television. It did not take him to long to get cast in his first recurring role on the television series, "Joe & Mabel" (1956).
In 1958 he relocated to Hollywood, California He became most well known for his role as, Stanley Roper on the television show, "Three's Company" (1976) which won him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. The show was later made into a spin off for another series called, "The Roppers" (1979-1980). He was also nominated for an Emmy for his role in the series, "Rich Man, Poor Man" (1976).
Throughout his career he appeared in more then twenty made for television movies and had some small roles in such feature films as, "Ocean's Eleven" (1960) starring Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin, "It's a Mad Mad Mad World", "PT 109" (1963), "The Graduate" (1967), "Bullitt" (1968) starring Steve McQueen, "Catch-22" and "The Killers".
Other series he added to his resume with guest roles were, "F.B.I", "Ironside", "Police Story", "Murder, She Wrote", "The Fresh Price of Bel-Air" and his final role on, "Ellen" (1997).
Norman married three times throughout his lifetime. With his first wife he had two daughters and after he divorced he married, Diane Weiss from 1961 through 1973. He then married Karen Weingard in 1975 and they adopted one son, but this marriage to ended in 1995. He passed away on December 14th, 1998 in Woodland Hills, California at the age of seventy four at the Motion Picture and Television Fund's Retirement Home after suffering from cancer. His remains are interred at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California.
