NANCY KULP BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Nancy Kulp was born on August 28th, 1921 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as an only child with the birth name Nancy Jane Kulp to parents Robert and Marjorie Kulp.  Kulp spent part of her childhood in Pennsylvania and also some time in Florida.  After high school she earned a degree from Florida State University and then attended the University of Miami where she pursued a masters degree in English and French.  Prior to earning her masters, Kulp decided to volunteer for the United States navel reserve in during World War II.

In 1946, she then decided to relocate to Hollywood and work in movie publicity.  Upon arrival, the director, George Cukor and the casting director, Billy Gordon convinced Kulp that she had the look to be an actress.  Kulp began to work in the industry quite quickly appearing in such films as, "Shane", "Sabrina" and "A Star is Born". She was also making guest appearances on such television series as, "Perry Mason", "The Jack Benny Program", "87th Precinct", "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outlaws".

It did not take long for her popularity to increase with her most well known roles being in, "The Bob Cummings Show" (1955) and "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962) which lasted for nine years and she received an Emmy nomination for her role in the series.  When the series came to an end, she continued to work occasionally in the industry on television as well as appearing on stage.  She did not neglect her film career either and was later in her acting seen on the big screen in such features as, "Forever, Darling", "The Three Faces of Eve", The Parent Trap" and "The Aristocrats".

She also taught acting at Juanita College and later decided to retire from the industry and moved to Palm Springs where she passed away on February 3rd, 1991 after suffering from cancer.  She is interred at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania.

Nancy married only once in 1951 to Charles Malcolm Dacus before the marriage ended in divorce in 1961.  She did not remarry again and actually chose to go public with her sexuality and openness that she was a lesbian.
