MOSES GUNN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Moses Gunn was born on October 2nd, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri, born to Mary and George Gunn.  After high school he attended Tennessee State University and later went to graduate school at Kansas University. 

He began his career as a stage actor appearing in such productions as, "The Blacks", "A Hand is on the Gate", "The Poison tree", "First Breeze of Summer", "Twelfth Night", "I Have a Dream" and "Othello".

He also gained quite a name for himself as a film actor appearing in such features as, "the Great White Hope" (1970), "Shaft" (1971), "The Hot Rock" (1972), "The Cowboys" (1974) starring John Wayne, Bruce Dern, "Amazing Grace" (1974), "Remember My Name" (1978), "Ragtime" (1981), "Fire Starter" (1974) and "Dixie Lanes" (1988).

He also appeared as a television actor in the mini-series, "Roots", "A Man Called Hawk", and the television series, "Good Times", "Little House on the Prairie", "Father Murphy", "Wide World Mystery" and "American Playhouse" among many others.

In addition to his acting career, Moses Gunn co-founded the Negro Ensemble Company in the 1960's.  He married only once to Gwendolyn Mumma Landes in 1966 and they had two children together and remained married until he passed away from asthma, on December 16th, 1993 in Guilford, Connecticut.
