MICHELLE PFEIFFER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Michelle Pfeiffer as born on April 29th, 1958 in Santa Ana, California to parents, Dick and Donna Pfeiffer. She has three siblings, one older brother and two younger sisters. In 1976 after graduating from Fountain Valley High School, Pfeiffer went on to study at the Golden West College learning how to become a court reporter.
During College she found work at a local grocery store as a check out cashier and then realized her true calling was to pursue a career as an actress. In 1978 she entered and won the Miss Orange County beauty pageant and then went on to compete in the Miss California contest where she placed sixth. Pfeiffer then found an acting agent and began going on auditions.
She began with some small roles on such television series as, "Fantasy Island" and "Delta House". She was also cast in some small roles on such films as, "Power, Passion and Murder" (1976), "Falling in Love Again" (1980), "The Hollywood Knights" (1980) and "Charlie Chan and the Curse of the Dragon Queen" (1981).
With hone of these films being at a level of success she dreamed of she enrolled in acting classes at the Beverley Hills Playhouse. She continued to work in he industry appearing on, "Callie and Son" (1981), "The Children Nobody Wanted" (1981) and "Splendor in the Grass".
In 1982 she was cast in her first major role in the film, "Grease 2", however the film was a box office failure and although her performance was not seen as a failure it was hard for such a new comer to the industry to be taken seriously for other film roles.
Her next role was in the film "Scarface" (1983) which was actually a commercial hit and began to get her some well needed attention. Pfeiffer than worked on, "Ladyhawke' (1985), "Into the Night" (1985), "Sweet Liberty" (1986), "Amazon Women on the Moon" (1987) and her biggest hit, "The Witches of Eastwick" (1987) which grossed $123.2 million.
Pfeiffer soon earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination as Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in, 'Married to the Mob" (1988) followed by more successful film roles in, "Tequila Sunrise" (1988), "Dangerous Liaisons" (1988), and "The Fabulous Baker Boys" (1989).
Her career had reached an all time high and she was being nominated at almost every awards ceremony between 1989 and 1990 and winning at the National Board of Review, Golden Globe Awards, New York Film Critics Circle awards, and a nomination from the Los Angeles Film critics Association Award for Best Actress.
She was a top level actress and was being offered many roles that she could not take on every opportunity. Pfeiffer was even offered the role in the film, "Pretty Woman" that Julia Roberts took and ended up wining an Academy Award for. She was also offered the role in, "Silence of the Lambs" (1991) which went to Jodi Foster and, Foster won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Pfeiffer did however continue to challenge herself and take on new and exciting roles such as in the films, "Frankie & Johnny" (1991) for which she was once again nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She was then nominated again for her role in the film, "Love Field" (1992) and for this role she won a Silver Bear Best Actress award.
Michelle Pfeiffer took on her next challenging project which she had to train in kick boxing and martial arts. She took on the role of, Catwoman in, "Batman Returns" (1992). More good film roles followed such as, "The Age of Innocence" (1993), "Wolf" (1994), "Dangerous Minds" (1995), "Up Close & Personal" (1996) and "To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday" (1996) which she starred in and served as executive producer for the film which her husband, David Kelly was involved in.
Roles kept coming her way with appearances in such films as, "One Fine Day" (1996), "A Thousand Acres" (1997), "The Deep End of the Ocean" 91998), "A Mid Summer Night's Dream" (1999) and "The Story of Us" (1999).
Along with a highly successful acting career, Pfeiffer also was acknowledged for her beauty being placed on the cover of People's magazine as one of the, 50 most beautiful People in the World. She followed this with another commercial success feature film with co star, Harrison Ford in the film, "What Lies Beneath" (2000) and then, "I Am Sam" (2001) with actor Sean Penn.
As she continued to work in the industry some of her other more well known film roles were in such features as, "White Oleander" (2002), "The Prince of Egypt" (1998), "I Could Never Be your Woman" (2007) and "Chéri" (2009). In 2012 her latest work in the film, "Dark Shadows" is set to be released directed by Tim Burton who she has worked with in the past.
Not only is Pfeiffer a beautiful woman and talented actress she has been given the opportunity a number of times to share her vocal talent in such films as, "Grease 2" (1982), "The Fabulous Baker Boys" (1989), "Prince of Egypt" (1998) and "Hairspray" (2007).
Michelle Pfeiffer has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Peter Horton in 1981 through 1988 and they did not have any children together. She then married, David E. Kelly in 1993 and they remain married today with two children. One of her children was adopted before she was married, Claudia Rose and her other son from her second marriage is John Henry.
Pfeiffer remains active in the industry and is also an avid oil painter.
