MICHAEL CLARKE DUNCAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Michael Clarke Duncan was born December 10, 1957 in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois to mother Jean Duncan and had one sister named Judy in a single parent home.  He attended Alcorn State University studying Communications but had to drop out prior to attaining a degree due to financial needs at home.

Duncan worked for People's Gas Company and also was a bouncer at several Chicago clubs as his 6'5" frame 315 pound frame gave him obvious advantages in preventing physical altercations.  His nickname at adult clubs was 'Black Caesar'.

Michael took other security jobs while in Los Angeles while trying to get some acting work in commercials. During this time, he worked as a bodyguard for several African American celebrities such as LL Cool J, Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Martin Lawrence and Notorious B.I.G., which upon the latter's death he opted to chose a different occupation.
 
Duncan was cast as Bear in the film "Armageddon" (1998) starring alongside Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Will Patton, Peter Stormare, William Fichtner, Marshall Teague, Keith David, Lawrence Tierney and Steve Buscemi and narrated by Charlton Heston, where he struck up a kinship with fellow actor Bruce WillisBruce Willis' connections and influence helped Duncan get his breakout role as John Coffey in the Frank Darabont-directed film, "The Green Mile", starring Tom Hanks, Bonnie Hunt, David Morse, Harry Dean Stanton, Dabbs Greer, Gary Sinise and James Cromwell, the role that garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.

Michael appeared in films such as "The Whole Nine Yards" (2000) starring with Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Rosanna Arquette, Kevin Pollak, Harland Williams and Natasha Henstridge, "Planet of the Apes" (2001) co-starring Mark Wahlberg, Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Giamatti and Estella Warren with a cameo appearances by Charlton Heston, "The Scorpion King" (2002) starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kelly Hu, Branscombe Richmond and Grant Heslov and "The Island" (2005) starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. He also did voiceovers in films and television, including "Brother Bear" (2003) and "Kung Fu Panda" (2008).

Duncan also appeared in a few television series including "Bones," "Chuck" and "Two and a Half Men" and lent his voice to such animated movie and TV projects as "Family Guy" and the movie "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore".

Michael Clarke Duncan passed away at the age of fifty four on Monday, September 3, 2012 after suffering a heart attack in July.
