MEREDITH BAXTER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Meredith Baxter was born on June 21st, 1947 in South Pasadena, California with the middle name Ann to Whitney Blake and Tom Baxter. Many know of her from her role portraying Elyse Keaton, Michael J. Fox's mother on the television series, "Family Ties" (1982-1989) and also starring Michael Gross, Justine Bateman, Brian Bonsall and Tina Yothers.
Being raised in California and born into a family involved in the industry, her career as an actress began after graduating from Hollywood Hills High School. Some of her early appearances were on the television series, "The Young Lawyers", "The Doris Day Show" and "The Partridge Family". Then in 1972, her first substantial role was on the television series, "Bridget Loves Bernie" with David Birney.
Along with working in television she has also appeared on such films as, "Ben" (1972) co-starring Lee Montgomery, Arthur O'Connell, Kenneth Tobey, Rosemary Murphy and Joseph Campanella and "Stand Up and Be Counted" (1972) starring with Jacqueline Bisset, Stella Stevens and Steve Lawrence, "Bittersweet Love" (1976) starring alongside Lana Turner, Robert Lansing, Celeste Holm, Robert Alda and Scott Hylands, "All the President's Men" (1976) starring Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Robards, Jack Warden, Hal Holbrook, Jane Alexander and Martin Balsam. As her career progressed, she alternated between television roles, film and television movies. Some of her more well known work includes her appearance on the television movie, "Kate's Secret" (1986) co-starring Ben Masters, Tracy Nelson, Georgann Johnson, Shari Belafonte, Leslie Bevis, Mackenzie Phillips and Edward Asner, followed by a nomination for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Special for her work in 1992 on, "A Women Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story" also starring Stephen Collins, Lori Hallier, Christine Jansen, Debra Jo Rapp, Kelli Williams, Stephen Root, Ralph Bruneau, Clayton Landey, Jandi Swanson, Katherine Cortez, Tricia O'Neil, Aaron Freeman, Jordan Christopher Michael and Michelle Johnson.
Other honors she has received throughout her career include a Daytime Emmy Award in 1994 for her role on the television movie, "Other Mothers". Other television movie credits include, "For the Love of Aaron" (1994) starring with Nick Mancuso, Keegan MacIntosh, John Kapelos and Malcolm Stewart, "One More Mountain" (1994) with Chris Cooper, Larry Drake and Robert Duncan McNeill, "My Breast" (1994) with Jamey Sheridan, James Sutorius and Sara Botsford and "The Faculty" (1994). She has also appeared on such television series as, "Cold Case", "Brothers and Sisters", "What About Brian" and "We Have to Stop Now".
In addition to her career as an actress, Baxter also founded the Meredith Baxter Foundation for Breast Cancer Research after becoming a successful breast cancer survivor. She has also created her own skin care line, Meredith Baxter Simple Works which she uses the profits to help find her foundation.
Most recently she has been seen on the television series, "Dan Vs.", "Switched at Birth" and the television movie, "Naughty Or Nice" (2012). In 2011 her memoir title, "Untied" was released to the public.
Meredith Baxter has been married a total of three times. Her first marriage was in 1966 to Robert Lewis Bush and together they had two children before the marriage came to an end in 1971. She then married David Birney in 1974 and had three more children during this union before ending their marriage in 1990. Her third time to marry was in 1995 to Michael Blodgett however by 2000, another marriage came to an end. In 2009, she came out to the public as a lesbian and currently resides with her partner Nancy Locke.
