MAX BAER JR. BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Max Baer Jr. was born on December 4th, 1937 in Oakland, California with the birth name Max Adelbert Baer Jr. His father was the former heavyweight boxing champion, Max Baer Sr. and his mother was Mary Ellen Sullivan. He only completed school through the sixth grade, but later went on to college and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Santa Clara University.
He first became involved in acting with his first role in England in 1949 in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". In 1960, Warner Brothers took an interest in him and he began appearing on a number of television appearances such as "Maverick", "Surfside 6", "Hawaiian Eye", "Cheyenne" and "77 Sunset Strip". Baer Jr. is best known for his recurring role in the television series, "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962).
Even as he worked on this series he made time for other television appearances as well on such shows as "Vacation Playhouse", "Love, American Style" and even a western film called, "A Time for Killing".
After the series went off the air, he was so typecast in the role of Jethro Clampett that for three years he could not find any other acting work. So he took it upon himself to write, direct, produce and star in "Macon County Line" (1974), "The Wild McCullochs" and "Ode to Billy Joe" (1976).
Baer Jr. was only married one time to Joanne Kathleen Hill in 1966 and they had no children before their marriage ended in 1971. He never remarried and retired from acting and moved to a home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
On occasion he will return to acting to make various appearances on television with some of his latest roles being on, "Murder, She Wrote" (1989-1991). He also put his business degree to good use by obtaining the sublicensing rights along with food and beverage rights to, "The Beverly Hillbillies" and with the gaming industry, he had Sixty-five Beverly Hillbillies slot machines built in 1999 and placed in various Casino's. He currently has plans to open his own casino with a hotel, showroom and cinema complex.
