MARCIA GAY HARDEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Marcia Gay Harden was born on August 14th, 1959 in La Jolla, California and had four other siblings. Due to her father's employment with the military her family lived in a number of places. It was while she was residing in Greece, that she first developed an interest in the theater when she would attend live stage productions with her family.
After earning a high school diploma in Europe she enrolled in American Colleges that were located in Europe and then later she moved back to the United States and finished her studies at the University of Texas graduating in 1980 with a BA in Theater.
Harden then proceeded with a higher level of education by earning an MFA at NYU. Now with her education behind her she decided to focus on a career as an actress. Some of her earlier roles were on the television series, "CBS Summer Playhouse" (1987), "Simon & Simon" (1988) and "Gideon Oliver" (1989).
In addition to working on a number of television series she also added to her resume television movie roles such as, "Kojak: None So Blind" (1990), "In Broad Daylight" (1991), "Fever" (1991) and "Sinatra" (1992).
She did some more stage work and then finally began to make a real name for herself in the film industry when she was cast in, "Pollock" (2000), a role for which she earned an Oscar and New York films Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress. She then earned another Academy Award nomination for her role in the film, "Mystic River" (2003) starring Sean Penn.
More recently she has been quite busy in the industry appearing on the television series, "Law & Order" (2005-2010) succeeded by roles in the films, "Detachment" (2011), "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You" (2011), "Noah's Ark: The New Beginning" (2012), "If I Were You" (2012), "Get a Job" (2012) and "Supreme Ruler" which is still in pre-production.
Marcia Gay Harden has married only once to Thaddaeus Scheel in 1996 and they have three children together and are currently finalizing details of their divorce.
