LINDA BLAIR BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Linda Blair was born on January 22nd, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri with the birth name Linda Denise Blair, born to James and Elinore Blair. She also had two siblings and they were raised in Westport, Connecticut.
As a young girl, she loved being the center of attention and worked as a model and child actress appearing as a regular on the soap opera, "Hidden Faces" and in the films, "The Way We Live Now" (1970) starring Joanna Miles, Nicholas Pryor and Lois Smith and "The Sporting Club" (1971) starring Nicolas Coster, Robert Field and Maggie Blye. Before the age of twelve she had already worked in over seventy commercials and has also appeared in a variety of magazines.
Her big break came when she was cast in the film, "The Exorcist" (1973) Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, Lee J. Cobb, Linda Blair, Kitty Winn, Jack MacGowran and (in voice only) Mercedes McCambridge, playing the possessed child, Regan MacNeil. Many thought she would win an Academy Award for her performance, however when the public found out her voice was dubbed, the dream of an Award was shattered.
Blair, did not allow this to stop her from pursuing a full time career as an actress and she continued working in the industry but for the next couple years adding mostly television movie roles such as, "Sweet Hostage" (1975), "Victory at Entebbe" (1976) starring alongside Anthony Hopkins, Burt Lancaster, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Dreyfuss, Kirk Douglas, Julie Harris, Helen Hayes, Theodore Bikel, Harris Yulin, Stefan Gierasch, Helmut Berger and Jessica Walter and "Stranger in Our House" (1978) also starring Lee Purcell, Jeremy Slate, Macdonald Carey, Fran Drescher, Jeff East, Carol Lawrence and Jeff McCracken.
She then began to catch the attention of Hollywood again and she was cast in such films as, "Wild Horse Hank" (1979) starring with Michael Wincott, Al Waxman and Richard Crenna, "Roller Boogie" (1979) starring with Beverly Garland, Mark Goddard, Jim Bray, Stoney Jackson, Jimmy Van Patten and Kimberly Beck, "Hell Night" (1980) with Vincent Van Patten and Peter Barton, "Savage Streets" (1984) co-starring Linnea Quigley, Robert Dwyer and John Vernon, "Moving Target" (1988), "Bail Out" (1989) starring with David Hasselhoff, John Vernon and Tony Brubaker, "Up Your Alley" (1989) with Murray Langston, Ruth Buzzi and Bob Zany, "Dead Sleep" (1992), "Fatal Bond" (1993) with Jerome Ehlers, Donal Gibson and Stephen Leeder and "Skins" (1994).
In addition to film work she also appeared on a variety of television series such as, "The Love Boat", "Fantasy Island", "Murder, She Wrote", "The Monsters", "Married With Children", "Renegade" and "S Club 7 in L.A".
Although she has had quite a successful acting career and was able to make the transition from child actress to adult actress, her personal life has suffered a little more turmoil. She has had a number of failed relationships as well as been in the public eye for arrests due to drug possession.
She has managed to stay sober now and in addition to her career as an actress, Blair owns her own clothing line called, Linda Blair's Wild West Collection. She also published a book about being a vegan titled, "Going Vegan". Blair is also a huge animal rights activist and has won numerous awards from organizations such as, P.E.T.A. for her work and is the founder of, "The Linda Blair World Heart Foundation" which assists in the rescue and adoption of animals.
Most recently, Blair has appeared in the television series, "Supernatural" (2006) and the film, "All is Normal" (2008). She also appeared as herself in the cable television show, "Pit Boss" and in the 2011 documentary, "Affair of the Heart".
