LESLEY ANN WARREN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Lesley Ann Warren was born on August 16th, 1946 in New York City, New York. As a child she took ballet lessons and was already exposed to the show business industry as her mother was a former nightclub singer.
Warren's education began at New York's Professional Children's School and later on she furthered her education at the Actors Studio under the direction of Lee Strasberg. Warren then began working on stage in a number of musical productions before she got her chance to appear on Broadway in, "110 in the Shade" followed by a number of other stage performances and then earned the Theatre Award for her performance in, "Drat! The Cat!" (1965).
Critics began to take notice of her and she was cast in a television musical production of, "Cinderella" (1965) starring Ginger Rogers, Walter Pidgeon, Celeste Holm and Jo Van Fleet, followed by being cast in, "The Happiest Millionaire" (1967) starring with Fred MacMurray, Greer Garson, Gladys Cooper, Geraldine Page, Hermione Baddeley and John Davidson and "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band" (1968) starring alongside Walter Brennan, Buddy Ebsen, John Davidson, Janet Blair, Wally Cox, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn and Richard Deacon. To avoid being type cast as a sweet innocent female actress she tried to get away from that image and challenge herself to more dramatic roles.
Some of her work in the mid 60's were roles on "Cat Ballou" (1965) starring Jane Fonda, Lee Marvin, Michael Callan, Dwayne Hickman, Reginald Denny, Arthur Hunnicutt and singers Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye, "Mission: Impossible" (1966) and television movies such as, "Love, Hate, Love" (1971), "The Legend of Valentino" (1975) starring Franco Nero, Suzanne Pleshette, Judd Hirsch, Yvette Mimieux, Milton Berle and Harold J. Stone, Harold Robbins' 79 Park Avenue" (1977) co-starring Marc Singer, Polly Bergen, Raymond Burr, Michael Constantine, Scott Jacoby, Lloyd Haynes, Alex Rocco, Peter Marshall and David Dukes, "Pearl" (1978) featuring an ensemble cast including Dennis Weaver, Tiana Alexandra, Robert Wagner, Angie Dickinson, Gregg Henry, Max Gail, Richard Anderson, Marion Ross, Audra Lindley, Char Fontane and Adam Arkin and "Portrait of a Stripper" (1979) also starring Edward Herrmann, Vic Tayback and Allan Miller.
Along with reaching her goal of proving to audiences she could be a versatile actress on television, she was cast in a number of films such as, "Victor Victoria" (1982) starring with Julie Andrews, James Garner, Robert Preston, Alex Karras and John Rhys-Davies, "Choose Me" (1984) co-starring Genevieve Bujold and Keith Carradine, "Songwriter" (1984) also starring Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Melinda Dillon and Rip Torn, "A Night in Heaven" (1983) co-starring Christopher Atkins, Robert Logan, Carrie Snodgress, Deney Terrio and Andy Garcia and "Pure Country" (1992) starring with Country Music Superstar George Strait, Rory Calhoun, Isabel Glasser and Kyle Chandler.
Throughout her career she also made a number of guest appearances on such series as, "Dr. Kildare" (1961), "Will & Grace" (1998), "Desperate Housewives" (2004) and her latest work, "In Plane Sight" (2008-2011). She also appeared in a Aerosmith music video, "Janie's Got a Gun" in 1989.
Lesley Ann Warren continues to take on new and challenging roles today in the industry and is married to her second husband, Ronald Taft whom she wed in January 2000. She was married once before to Jon Peters who was a make up artist and they had one son together, Christopher Peters.
She has been nominated once for an Academy Award and Emmy Award and five times for Golden Globe Award for which she has won one, in the 1977 miniseries, "Harold Robbins' 79 Park Avenue".
