LEONARD NIMOY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Leonard Nimoy was born on March 26th, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts with the middle name Simon, born to Max and Dora Nimoy and he has one older brother, Melvin. From the age of eight he already developed an interest in acting and was performing in local stage productions such as, "Awake and Sing!".
However, it was not until he was twenty years old that he relocated to Hollywood and began working in the film industry first appearing in, "Queen for a Day" (1951) followed by small roles in, "Rhubarb" (1951), "Zombies of the Stratosphere" (1952), "Them!" (1954) and his most well known role portraying, Mr. Spock in the television series, "Star Trek" (1966), a role for which he won three Emmy nominations.
He later did voice over work for, "Star Trek: The Animated Series" and voiced, Galvatron in, "The Transformers: The Movie" (1986). He also played Spock in the film, "Star Trek Movie" (2009). When the original "Star Trek" television series came to an end he opened an exotic pet store and at one time, also had taken a brief break from acting to serve in the United States Army between 1953 through 1955 and after completing his service he returned back to pursuing a career as an actor while also studying drama at Boston College.
Nimoy also added to his resume a number of stage credits such as, "Fiddler on the Roof", "Oliver", "Camelot", "The Man in the Glass Booth", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Twelfth Night", "My Fair Lady" and "Equus".
Leonard Nimoy has also appeared on a variety of television series such as, "Wagon Train", "M Squad", "Sea Hunt", "Death Valley Days", "Mission: Impossible", "The Virginian", "Highway Patrol", "Cimarron City", "West Point", "Bonanza", "Rawhide", "Columbo" and "Fringe". He has also been the host of the television programs, "In Search of…" (1976) and "Ancient Mysteries" (1994).
Other films he has appeared in are, "Catlow" (1971) and the television movies, "The Missing Are Deadly" (1974), "Seizure: The Story of Kathy Morris" (1980) and "Marco Polo" (1982).
In addition to his career as an actor, Nimoy also worked on the other side of the industry as a writer and director for such projects as, "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986) and directed the 1984 video for the Bangles, "Going Down to Liverpool". He has also directed the film, "Men and a Baby" (1973), "The Good Mother" (1988), "Funny About Love" (1990) and "Holy Matrimony" (1994).
Along with acting, directing, earning a college degree and being a published writer, Nimoy has also been involved with music releasing five albums of vocal recordings with Dot Records such as the songs, "Highly Illogical" and "Proud Mary".
He also managed to earn a Masters of Education degree from Antioch University and later on even completed his doctorate in 2000. He is an avid writer and in addition to his successful acting career he has also published a number of books such as, "I Am Not Spock" and "I Am Spock". In addition he also writes poetry and is a photography enthusiast.
Although he ahs been very successful career wise he did admit that at one point in his life he was an alcoholic and had to undergo rehabilitation.
Leonard Nimoy has married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Sandra Zober in 1954 and they had two children before the marriage came to an end in 1987. He then married his current wife, Susan Bay in 1989 and his most recent appearances have been on the television series, "Fringe" (2009-2011), "The Big Bang Theory" (2012) and soon to release in 2012, a role in the film, "Zambezia".
