KEVIN KLINE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Kevin Kline was born on October 24th, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri with the middle name Delaney, born to Peggy and Robert Joseph Kline.
After graduating from Saint Louis Priory School, he went on to study ay Indiana University in Bloomington earning a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre in 1970. He then later was awarded a scholarship to study at the Julliard School in New York. Soon he became a member of the Acting Company in New York and began performing as a stage actor.
In 1976 he left the Acting Company and found work on the soap opera, "Search for Tomorrow" then he returned briefly back to stage acting and won two Tony Awards for his performances in the musicals, "On the Twentieth Century" (1978) and "The Pirates of Penzance" (1981). Other stage roles he has so far added to his credits over the course of his career are in such productions as, "Richard III", "Much Ado About Nothing", "Henry V" and "Hamlet".
Kline then decided to give film acting a try and it was not long before he was adding such credits to his resume as, "Sophie's Choice" (1982), "The Big Chill" (1983), "Silverado" (1985), "Grand Canyon" (1981), "I Love You To Death" (1990), "French Kiss" (1995) and "A Fish Called Wanda" (1989) for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Throughout his career in the industry he has added such awards to his resume as a Drama Desk Award, A Gotham Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Hasty Pudding Theatricals Man of the Year Award and a St. Louis International Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award along with being honored with a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Other films he can be seen in are, "As You Like It" (2006), "The Conspirator" (2010), "Stake Land" (2010), "No Strings Attached" (2011), "Darling Companion" (2012) and soon to release in 2013, "Frank or Francis".
Majority of his career in the entertainment industry has focused on stage or film work with occasional television movie appearances and very few television series roles. He recently worked on the television series, "Bob's Burgers" (2011) doing voice over work and prior to this project, Klein also worked on the television series, "Great Performances" (1990-2008).
Kevin married only once to, actress Phoebe Cates in 1989 and they have two children and remain together today and reside in New York City. One of his children, his son Owen was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, therefore, Kline is an active member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
