Kevin Bacon ACTOR

Kevin Bacon was born on July 8th, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the birth name Kevin Norwood Bacon to parents, Ruth Hilda and Edmund Norwood Bacon.  Kevin was one of six siblings and after he completed high School he earned a scholarship to study at Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts at Bucknell University.
Bacon then relocated to new York City in pursuit of a career as an actor.  He began with working on stage in a production at the Circle in the Square Theater School.  He was then cast in his first film role, "Animal House" (1978) but although he had hoped this role would open more doors for his career, that was not the case.
He returned to auditioning for stage roles and supporting himself working as a waiter.  He did get a couple small roles on television such as in the soap opera, "Search for Tomorrow" (1979) and "Guiding Light" (1980-1981).  As his career continued he received a number of other stage roles in such productions as, "Getting Out", "Flux" and "Forty Deuce" which he won an Obie Award for.
Soon Broadway roles were becoming more available to him such as his debut in a production of, "Slab Boys" followed by a role in the film, "Diner" which finally gained him attention from film and theater critics.
His big break came when he was cast in the film, "Footloose" (1984) which was a huge success and followed with roles in such feature films as, "She's Having a Baby" (1988), "The Big Picture" (1989). "Tremors" and "Flatliners" (both 1990).
As his career progressed into the 90's more challenging roles were being offered to him such as a role in the film, "He Said, She Said" (1991), "JFK" (1991) and "A Few Good Men" (1992) starring alongside Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson.
Kevin also did not neglect his love of working on the stage and returned to New York to perform in a production of, "Spike Heels".  Bacon earned a Golden Globe nomination when he starred in the film, "The River Wild" (1994) followed by earning a Broadcast Film Critic's Association Award in 1995 for his role in the film, "Murder in the First".
One of his best known roles was in the film, "Apollo 13" (1995) followed by more feature film roles in, "Sleepers" (1996), "Picture Perfect" (1997), "Trapped" (2002) and "Where the Truth Lies" (2005).  He was also cast in 2010 in the film, "X-Men: First Class".
Kevin Bacon has been married only once to actress Kyra Sedgwick whom he wed in 1988 and they have two children, Travis and Sosie Ruth, and remain married today.  They have worked together on a number of projects such as, "Pyrates", "The Woodsman" and "Loverboy".  He was honored in 2003 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the Motion Picture Industry.  Bacon currently lives with his family in  Manhattan, new York and owns a vacation home in Litchfield, Connecticut.
