KAREN STEELE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Karen Steele was born on March 20th, 1931 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Percy Davis Steele and Ruth Covey Merritt.  She was raised in Hawaii and after high school, Steele went on to study at the university of Hawaii and later relocated to Florida to study acting at Rollins College.
 
After college, she found work as a model. Her first paid acting job was working on the radio in a play called, "Let George Do It" followed by a role in the film s, "The Clown" (1953), "Man Crazy" (1953) and one of her most famous roles portraying the character, Virginia in, "Marty" (1955) that garnered an Academy Award for actor Ernest Borgnine as Best Actor.
 
Over the course of her career in the industry she appeared in over sixty film and television roles.  Some early television credits she added to her resume were roles on, "Studio 57" (1954), "The Man behind the Badge" (1955), "G.E. True Theater" (1955), "Stage 7" (1955), "Dragnet" (1956), "Climax" (1955-1957), "Wagon Train" (1957), "The Millionaire" (1956-1958), "Maverick" (1957-1959) and "Riverboat" (1960).
 
As her career progressed she mainly focused on television appearances and is most remembered for her role as Eve McHuron in the Star Trek episode, "Mudd's Women".  Other series she appeared on were, "Perry Mason", "Naked City", "Laramie", "Rawhide", "Branded", "The Long, Hot Summer", "Flipper", "Hogan's Heroes" and "Mannix".
 
Although she was mostly a television actress she did add a couple film credits to her resume such as, "Decision at Sundown" (1957), "A Boy and a Girl" (1969), "The Happy Ending" (1969), "The Trap on Cougar Mountain" (1972) and her final film role was, "Run to the High Country" (1974).  
 
Along with her career as an actress she was involved in a number of charitable causes.  

Karen Steele married only once to Dr. Maurice Boyd Ruland in 1973 and they remained together until she passed away at the age of fifty seven on March 12th, 1988 in Kingman, Arizona.
