Julia Roberts ACTOR

Julia Roberts was born on October 28th, 1967 in Smyrna, Georgia with the birth name Julie Fiona Roberts to parents Betty Lou and Walter Grady Roberts.  From childhood she had aspirations of pursuing a career as a veterinarian, however as she got older she chose to study journalism instead. 

After her parents got a divorce she moved with her mother to Smyrna, Georgia and attended Fitzhugh Lee Elementary and went on to graduate from Campbell High School.  At the age of ten her father passed away from cancer.
After High School she decided to relocate to New York City and pursue a career as an actress.  She found work with a modeling agency and also enrolled in acting classes.  It was then that she also took on the stage name Julia Roberts when she found out a Julie Roberts was already a member of SAG, the Screen Actors Guild.
Once she had gained some acting experience in such films as, "Blood Red" (1986) starring Eric Roberts, Giancarlo Giannini, Burt Young, Aldo Ray and Dennis Hopper, and the television series, "Crime Stories' (1987), she began to pursue a career as a film actress debuting on her first big screen appearance in, "Satisfaction" (1988) starring Justine Bateman and Liam Neeson.  She followed with roles in such films as, "Mystic Pizza" (1988) starring with Lili Taylor, Vincent D'Onofrio, William R. Moses, Adam Storke, Matt Damon and Conchata Ferrell and "Steel Magnolias" (1989) also starring Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, for which she received her first Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress and her first Golden Globe Award for her performance.
One of her biggest success film roles soon followed with her role as a prostitute in the film, "Pretty Woman" (1990) co-starring Richard Gere along with Hector Elizondo, Laura San Giacomo, Amy Yasbeck, Elinor Donahue, Ralph Bellamy, Jason Alexander, Judith Baldwin, Laurelle Brooks Mehus and James Patrick Stuart.  For this role she received an Oscar nomination and won a People's choice Award for Favorite Actress.  She is adored by a huge fan base and continues to make appearances in films.
Some of her latest work has been in, "My Best Friends Wedding" (1997) also starring Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everett, Carrie Preston, M. Emmet Walsh and Philip Bosco, "Notting Hill" (1999) co-starring starring with Hugh Grant, Rhys Ifans, Emma Chambers, Tim McInnerny, Gina McKee, Alec Baldwin and Hugh Bonneville, "Runaway Bride" (1999) starring with Richard Gere, Joan Cusack, Sela Ward, Yul Vazquez, Christopher Meloni, Rita Wilson, Paul Dooley, Lisa Roberts Gillan, Donal Logue and Hector Elizondo, "Erin Brockovich" (2000) co-starring Albert Finney, Aaron Eckhart, Peter Coyote and Marg Helgenberger, for which she won an Academy Award, "The Pelican Brief" (1993) co-starring Denzel Washington, Sam Shepard, John Lithgow, James Sikking, Robert Culp, Hume Cronyn, Stanley Tucci, John Heard, Tony Goldwyn and William Atherton, Ocean's Eleven" (2001) starring Alongside George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Carl Reiner, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Scott Caan, Andy Garcia, Casey Affleck and Elliott Gould and "Ocean's Twelve" (2004) starring with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Shaobo Qin, Scott Caan, Casey Affleck, Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould and "Valentines' Day" (2010) also starring Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Shirley MacLaine, Taylor Lautner, Ashton Kutcher, Emma Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Carter Jenkins, Hector Elizondo, George Lopez and Taylor Swift.
Along with being a successful actress, Julia Roberts is very involved in charitable organizations such as UNICEF.  Roberts has married twice, first to Lyle Lovett from 1993 through 1995.  She then married Daniel Moder in 2002 and they have three children together and remain married today. 

Julia Roberts is known for her smile and her amazing personality.  She has a huge fan base and has received a number of other honors such as, being chosen one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" by People magazine in 1990, 1991 and 2000 and she was also ranked #66 in Empire magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list in 1997.
Roberts is one of the highest paid actresses in the world.  When she first filmed Pretty Woman her salary was $300,000 but after the huge success of the film she was then paid 25 million for her role in, "Mona Lisa Smile" (2003).  
Julia Roberts has also worked on a number of animated films doing the voice over work such as, "The Ant Bully" and "Charlotte's Web".  In 2006 she even took her first Broadway stage role in, "Three Days of Rain", however, even though the production was successful, her performance was criticized by viewers.   
Roberts has three homes, one in Taos, New Mexico, Malibu California and in New York City.  Throughout her lifetime she has been romantically involved with a number of men.  She has been married twice, her first husband was Lyle Lovett whom she wed in 1993 and divorced two years later. She is currently married to Daniel Moder, who works in the industry as a cameraman and they met in the year 2000 when she was on the set of "The Mexican". 
Julia Roberts remains active in the entertainment industry and is also very involved in the charitable organization, UNICEF amongst others.  She also narrated a documentary called, "Silent Angels" in 2000 which is about Rett Syndrome and helps raise the publics awareness about this neurodevelopment disease.  Her latest work which is soon to release is a film about Snow White, currently still untitled.
