JOHNNY DEPP BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Johnny Depp was born on June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky with the birth name John Christopher Depp II, born to parents, John Christopher and Betty Sue Wells. His family moved numerous times during his childhood and in 1978, his parents divorced. He had a rough childhood and used music has his escape from reality when he turned twelve years old and was given a guitar as a gift from his mother.
At the age of fifteen he dropped out of school in hopes of pursuing a career as a musician. As a teenager, he played in a number of local small bands, one called, "The Kids" that was locally popular. When he visited Los Angeles, California with his first wife, Lori Anne Allison whom he wed in 1983, he met actor, Nicholas Cage and from this point on, he had caught the acting bug.
His first film role was in 1984 in, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and soon earned a great amount of popularity when he was cast in the television series, "21 Jump Street" (1987). Other successful film roles soon followed such as in, "Edward Scissorhands" (1990), "Ed Wood" (1994), "Donnie Brasco" (1997), "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (1998), "The Astronaut's Wife" (1999) and "Sleepy Hollow" (1999).
As his career progressed he continued to take on new and challenging roles and his fan base consistently increased. Depp was seen on the big screen in, "From Hell" (2001), "One Upon a Time in Mexico" (2003) and one of his most successful film roles, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003) for which he received an Oscar nomination.
Some of his more recent film roles have been in, "The Libertime" (2004), "Finding Neverland" (2004), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005), which earned him another nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, "Corpse Bride" (2005) and "Alice in Wonderland" (2010).
Many of his films have been in collaboration with director, Tim Burton and the two have become very close friends over the years.
Even though he has had a highly successful career as an actor, he has been in the public eye numerous times for accusations of drug use as well as selling drugs. He also was arrested for vandalizing a hotel suite in New York as well as being arrested another time for fighting with paparazzi in London, England.
Throughout his career he has been honored in Hollywood with such awards as winning the Best Actor Awards from the Golden Globes for his roles in the films, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of black Pearl".
Along with his acting career, Depp has also formed a production company called, Infinitum Nihil. He works with his sister who serves as President of the company. The first production was in 2011 with the film, "The Rum Diary" and soon to release are, "Hugo" (2011) and "Dark Shadows" (2012).
Depp has still kept up his musical involvement playing guitar in an Oasis song called, "Fade Out" (1997) and also played guitar on the soundtrack, "Once Upon a Time in Mexico". Most recently he made a cameo appearance in the music video, "Alice" (2010) with singer, Avril Lavigne.
Depp divorced his first wife in 1986 and currently resides with his live in girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis who is a French Actress and singer and they have two children together, Lily-Rose melody and Jack. He currently lives in Los Angeles, but also owns a home in Paris, an Island in the Bahamas, and a villa in Le-Plan-de-la-Tour in the south of France.
