JOHN SUTTON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
John Sutton was born on October 22nd, 1908 in Pawalpindi, British India which is now known as Rawalpindi, Punjab Pakistan. After high school he earned a college degree from Wellington College and then found work as a hunter, rancher and even a tea plantation manager.
Prior to working as an actor he had the opportunity to live all over the world in such places as China, Malaya and even the Philippines. During the mid 1930's he relocated to Los Angeles, California where he found work as a technical consultant in the film industry.
He was a good looking man and on set one day, a director took an interest in him and cast him in the film, "The Last of the Mohicans" (1936) starring Randolph Scott. Soon other small roles followed such as, "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Claude Rains, "Bulldog Drummond" (1937-1939), "Hudson's Bay" (1941) starring Paul Muni and Gene Tierney, "Jane Eyre" (1943) starring Orson Welles, Joan Fontaine, Margaret O'Brien and Elizabeth Taylor, "Captain from Castile" (1947), "Adventures of Casanova" (1948), "The Three Musketeers" (1948) starring Gene Kelly, Van Heflin, Lana Turner, June Allyson, Angela Lansbury, Frank Morgan and Vincent Price, "Bride of Vengeance" (1949) and "The Fan" (1949).
On occasion he was cast not only in supporting roles but a couple lead roles in such films as, "Moon Over Her Shoulder" (1941) starring Lynn Bari and Dan Dailey and "Tonight We Raid Calais" (1943) starring Lee J. Cobb, Beulah Bondi and Howard Da Silva.
In addition to his work in film, as his career progressed he turned his focus towards television appearing on a variety of series such as, "Lux Video Theatre", "Four Star Playhouse", 'Studio 57", "Behind Closed Doors", "The Californians", "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color", "Men Into Space", "Checkmate", "Perry Mason" and his final appearance was in 1961 on "Rawhide".
John Sutton passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of fifty four on July 10th, 1963 in Cannes, France.
