JOE DE SANTIS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Joe De Santis was born on June 15th, 1909 in New York City, New York, born to Pasquale DeSantis and Maria Paoli. His interest in the entertainment industry began with studying acting at New York University and soon he found work as a stage actor. His early stage performances were done in Italian. In addition to working in entertainment he was also an artist and taught sculpture classes in New York.
He is most well remembered for his narration of, "On a Note of Triumph" which was broadcast at the conclusion of World War II.
Santis's first real acting job was with the Walter Hampden Repertory Company for three years and began doing his stage performances in English. Then in the 1940's he started working on the radio with such shows as, "Pepper Young's Family", "Mr. District Attorney", "March of Time" and "Gangbusters".
Beginning in the late 1940's he began his long run as a television actor. Over the course of his career, Santis would appear on more than 125 television series. Some of his early roles included, "Photo Crime", "The Trap", "Lights Out", "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" and "Four Star Playhouse".
As his career progressed he had regular roles on such television series as, "The Untouchables", "77 Sunset Strip", "Perry Mason", "Daniel Boone", "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "Mission: Impossible and "Dr. Kildare".
Other television credits included, "The Lucy Show", "Lux Video Theatre", "Rawhide", "The Name of the Game", "Zane Grey Theatre", "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet", "Mannix", "Lancer", "Run for Your Life", "Laredo", "The Virginian", "Sheriff of Cochise", "The Munsters", "Ben Casey", "The Fugitive", "Wagon Train", "Sea Hunt", "The Tall Man", "Surfside 6", "Sugarfoot" and "Maverick" among many others.
Joe De Santis married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Miriam Moss whom he wed in 1935 and together they had one child before their marriage came to an end. He then married Margaret Draper in 1949 and they also had one child together before divorcing in 1956. His third wife was Wanda June Slve in 1959 and they stayed together until she passed away in 1977. He did not re-marry and remained working in the industry with his final appearances on the television movies, "Katherine" (1975), "Contract on Cherry Street" (1977) and his final role, "Suburban Beat" (1985). He then passed away on August 30th, 1989 in Provo, Utah after suffering from chronic obstructive lung disease.
