JOAN CAULFIELD BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Joan Caulfield was born on June 1st, 1922 in West Orange, New Jersey with the birth name Beatrice Joan Caulfield. She was raised in West Orange, New Jersey and received her early years education from Miss Beard's School. As a teen, her family relocated to New York City and after she graduated from high school, Caufield enrolled at Columbia University.
She began her career in entertainment working as a model and fashion model represented by John Powers agency and then began working as a stage actress. It was during one production that some Broadway producers took notice of her and helped her acting career take off. After gaining some years of experience as a stage actress on Broadway, Paramount Studio's came to her with a film contract offer.
Some of her early film roles were in, "Miss Susie Slagle's" (1946), "Monsieur Beaucaire" (1946), "Blue Skies" (1946) and "Dear Ruth" (1947). Although, she signed with Paramount, they did lend her out to work with Warner Brothers Studio's where she had one of her most memorable performances in the film, "The Unsuspected" (1947).
Other film credits she added included, The Sainted Sisters" (1948), "Larceny" (1948), "Dear Wife" (1949), "The Petty Girl" (1950), "The Lady Says No" (1951), "Buckskin" (1968) and "Pony Express Rider" (1976).
Along with her work as a film actress throughout her career in the industry she also added numerous television appearances to her resume such as, "Cheyenne", "Murder, She Wrote", "Baretta", "Sally", "The High Chaparral", "The Magician", "My Three Sons", "Burke's Law", "Hong Kong", "Pursuit" and "Lux Video Theater".
Caulfield married twice during her lifetime. Her first husband was Frank Ross whom she wed in 1950 and they had one child before the marriage ended in divorce in 1960. She then wed Dr. Robert Peterson in 1960 and together they also had a child before six years later this marriage also came to an end.
Joan Caulfield did not choose to marry again and she passed away on June 18th, 1991 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from lung cancer at the age of sixty nine. Her remains were cremated and scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
