JESSICA LANGE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jessica Lange was born on April 20th, 1949 in Cloquet, Minnesota with the birth name Jessica Phyllis Lange. She was the third of four children born to Dorothy Florence and Albert John Lange. Her father was employed as a traveling salesman. After graduating from high school she went on to study at the University of Minnesota on a scholarship, but only stayed briefly before deciding to move to Paris, France and study there.
After studying the art of Mime in France, she relocated to New York City and began taking acting classes while working part time as a waitress and fashion model. Soon she was signed to a modeling agency and then began looking for work as an actress. She was hired by the producer, Dino De Laurentiis who chose her to appear in he film, "King Kong" (1976). Unfortunately the film was not a great success and it caused things to be difficult for Lange careerwise as few other projects were being offered to her.
Luckily, she did find work on the film, "All That Jazz" which soon followed with some other decent roles on such films as the remake of, "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (1981), "Frances" (1982) and "Tootsie" (1982) where she won a Best Supporting Actress Award.
Finally things were going in the right direction for her professionally receiving outstanding reviews for her role in the film, "Sweet Dreams" (1985) followed by roles in top feature films as, "Music Box" (1989), "Men Don't Leave" (1990), "Cape Fear" (1991) and "Blue Sky" (1994), which she won another Best Actress Academy Award.
Along with working as a film actress, Lange also decided to try and get a stage role on Broadway which she did in her debut in, "A Street Car Named Desire" (1992). She is also very involved in charitable causes such as being a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund and is a big supporter for rights of the Monks of Nepal.
Jessica Lange has married only once in 1970 to Francisco Paco Grande and has no children with him. They remained married until 1981. She has not remarried, but lives with her boyfriend, Sam Shepard since 1982. She has three children total, one from her relationship with Mikhail Baryshnikov and two children from her current live-in boyfriend.
Some of her latest film roles have been in, "Normal" (2003), "Grey Gardens" (2009) and "The Big Valley" (2011). Jessica also enjoys photography and has published a book of black and white photographs titled, "50 Photographs".
