JENNIFER LOPEZ BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jennifer Lopez was born on July 24th, 1969 in The Bronx, New York with the middle name Lynn to parents, David and Guadalupe Lopez. She has a younger sister and an older sister.
From the age of five she was enrolled in singing and dancing lessons and received her early years education at a Catholic school. She was also very athletic taking lessons in gymnastics, softball and well as tennis.
After earning her high school diploma she found part time work at a law office and then decided she really wanted to pursue a career in entertainment, therefore at the age of eighteen she began following her dream.
She was first cast in the television show, "In Living Color" (1990) which influenced her relocation to Los Angeles, California. She worked on "In Living Color" for two years before being given the opportunity to dance with, Janet Jackson.
In 1995 she broke into the film industry with a role in, "My Family" followed by the film role in, "Money Train" (1995). The next film role took her career to the next level in, "Selena" (1997). Soon other film roles followed such as, "Out of Sight" (1998), "The Cell" (2000), "The Wedding Planner" (2001), "Maid in Manhattan" (2002), "Shall We Dance" (2004) and "Monster-in-Law" (2005).
Along with her music and film career, she has endorsed a number of products such as, L'Oreal, Gillette women's products, TOUS Jewelry, Lux Shampoo and Fiat.
Since being in the industry she has received a number of honors such as being chosen by, "People magazine" as one of the, "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" in 1997. In 2001 she was voted #1 in, FHM's, "100 Sexiest Women's List" and that same year she was named one of E's, "Top 20 Entertainers of 2001". In 2003, Maxim ranked her #5 in their, "Hot 100 List". In 2012 she was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording. She also received the Women in Film, Crystal Award for her role in, "Bordertown" (2006).
Along with her acting career she is also a very well known musician having released such albums as, "On the 6" (1999), "J. Lo" (2001), "This is Me…Then" (2002), "Rebirth" and the Spanish album, "Como ama una Mujer" (2007). Her fifth album released was titled, "Brave" followed by, "Love" released in 2010. She then left her record contract with Epic Records after working with them for ten years and signed with Sony Music Entertainment. Jennifer Lopez has plans to release a, Greatest Hits Album in 2012.
Over the course of her music career she has earned two Grammy Award nominations, two Latin Grammy Award nominations and three American Music Awards. In 2007 she also won an American Music Award for Favorite Latin Artist and won this same award again in 2011.
Plus in addition she is also a very intelligent business woman who opened a Cuban restaurant called, Madre's in Pasadena, California. She also has a number of fragrances released for me and for women such as, "Still", "Glow", "Deseo", "Blue Glow" and "Love and Glamour". In 2011 she was involved in starting her own clothing line called, JLO by Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer is also very involved in a number of charitable causes such as being an advocate for Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. She also has a foundation along with her sister called, The Maribel Foundation which helps under-privileged communities with access to health care and medical services.
In addition to her musical career, acting career and cosmetics and clothing she has also managed to start her own television and film production company called, Nuvorican Productions in 2001. The company's first production was, "El Cantante" and they also produced a mini-series titled, "Univision". Rumor has it that the company's next project is, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" which is a film taken from a children's educational game.
Some of her more recent film work were roles in, "The Back-Up Plan" (2010), "Scrat's Continental Crack-Up: Part 2" (2011) and soon to release in 2012, "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "Parker". She also did voice over work for the animated film, "Ice Age: Continental Drift" which will release in 2012. Lopez was also the judge replacement for Ellen Degeneres for season ten of, "American Idol".
Throughout her lifetime she has married a total of three times. Her first husband was Ojani Noa whom she wed in 1997 but divorced just one year later. She then married Chris Judd in 2001 but again this marriage was short lived only lasting until 2003. Her third time to marry was to Latin music star, Marc Anthony in 2004 and the couple have two twin children. In 2011 they filed for divorce and since then she has not re-married.
Jennifer Lopez owns a home in Old Westbury in Long Island, New York. She is described as, "the best all-rounded entertainer of our generation". She has sold over 55 million records worldwide and her physical appearance has made such an impact on the world and she remains a role model to many woman young and old today. Lopez has proven that it does not matter where you come from, anyone can follow their dream and make it a reality with enough hard work, determination and dedication.
