JEFF DONNELL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Jeff Donnell was born on July 10th, 1921 in South Windham, Maine with the birth name Jean Marie Donnell.  She was the youngest of two girls, born to Howard and Mildred Donnell.  During her childhood years, she gave herself the nickname 'Jeff' after the cartoon character in "Mutt and Jeff", which she later took on as her stage name.

She and her sister were raised in Maryland and as a young girl she studied piano and dance.  After high school, Donnell enrolled at Yale School of Drama and during the summer she worked in summer stock gaining stage experience.

At the age of nineteen she married, Bill Anderson who was a drama teacher she once studied with and the couple opened the Farragut Playhouse in New Hampshire.  During one of her performances, a talent scout with Columbia Pictures was viewing the production and right away signed Donnell to a contract.
