JANE WYATT BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Jane Wyatt was born on August 12th, 1910 in Campgaw, New Jersey with the birth name Jane Waddinton Wyatt, born to Christopher Billopp Wyatt Jr. and Euphemia Van Rensselaer Waddington. She was raised in New York City and studied at the Chapin School and then went on to study at Barnard College. Prior to earning a college degree, she left after only two years and joined the Berkshire Playhouse at Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
During her time in Massachusetts she participated in a number of stage productions and later began appearing on Broadway in such productions as, "Trade Winds". After gaining some more stage experience she was offered a film contract with Universal and soon was appearing on such features as, "One More River" (1934) and "Lost Horizon" (1937).
Film roles were not coming so easy to her so she remained working as a stage actress and appeared in the Broadway production of, "The Autumn Garden". Along with her film and stage work, she is also well remembered for her television sitcom role portraying Margaret Anderson on, "Father Knows Best" (1954-1960), a role for which she won three consecutive Emmy's.
Other television roles she added to her resume were on such series as, "Wagon Train" (1962), "The Virginian" (1964-1970), "Star Trek" (1967), "Medical Center" (1975), "Fantasy Island" (1978-1983), "The Love Boat" (1979-1987), "Hotel" (1983-1987) and "St. Elsewhere" (1983-1988).
She married only one time to Edgar Bethune Ward in 1935 and they had two children and remained married until he passed away on November 8th, 2000. Six years later Wyatt passed away at the age of ninety six on October 20th, 2006 in Bel-Air, California from natural causes. Her remains are buried next to her husband at San Fernando's Mission Cemetery in California.
