JANE GREER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Jane Greer was born on September 9th, 1924 in Washington D.C. with the birth name BetteJane Greer, born to parents Bettie and Charles Dean McLean Greer Jr. Her career in entertainment began as a working model during her teenage years and then pursuing a career as a big band singer.

In 1942, she posed for the cover of Life Magazine and was seen by director, Howard Hughes who took an interest in her and invited her to relocate to Hollywood and pursue a career as an actress. After only living in California one year she met and married a man by the name of Rudy Vallee who was twenty two years older than her.

She did not let her personal life have any affect on her acting career and one year later she and Vallee divorced and she returned to her contract with Hughes. Greer began appearing in such films as, "Dick Tracy" (1945), "Out of the Past" (1947), "They Won't Believe Me" (1947) and "The Big Steal" (1949). She was bet known for her role in, "Out of the Past" where she portrayed femme fatale, Kathie Moffat.

As her career entered the 1950's, Greer worked on more films such as, "You're in the Navy Now" (1951), "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1952), "Run for the Sun" (1956) and "The Man of a Thousand Faces" (1957) starring James Cagney

Along with her career as a film actress, she made appearances on such television series as, "Bonanza", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Quincy, M.E.", "Murder, She Wrote", "Columbo", "Falcon Crest" and "Twin Peaks".

After her first marriage came to an end, Greer married Edward Lasker in 1947 and together they had three children and remained married until 1963. Greer did not re-marry, but did have a long standing relationship with Frank London until he passed away in January 2001. Six months later, on August 24th, 2001 Jane Greer passed away from cancer at the age of seventy six in Los Angeles, California. Her remains are interred in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.
