JAMES GRIFFITH BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
James Griffith was born in Los Angeles, California on February 13th, 1916. Throughout his career in the industry he never limited himself to portraying one type of character and would appear in all types of films.
At one point in his career he performed as a musician with Spike Jones and His City Slickers. His career in entertainment began in the music industry with no intention to ever pursue, however, over time he began working in local theaters and began to develop an interest in acting.
He first began to earn a name for himself in the industry when he appeared in the stage production, "They Can't Get You Down" (1939), however before continuing to increase his success as an actor, he took a break from pursuing his career to serve in the United States military during World War II.
Upon completing his service, Griffith returned to his acting career and this time decided to turn his focus from the stage to film. It was just a matter of time before he began adding such credits to his resume as, "Blonde Ice" (1948) starring Leslie Brooks, Robert Paige and Emory Parnell, "Al Jennings of Oklahoma" (1951) starring Dan Duryea, Gale Storm, Dick Foran and Gloria Henry, "The Great Missouri Raid" (1951) Wendell Corey, Macdonald Carey, Ellen Drew, Ward Bond, Bruce Bennett, Bill Williams, Anne Revere, Edgar Buchanan, Tom Tyler, Guy Wilkerson, Louis Jean Heydt and James Millican, "Chain of Circumstance" (1951) starring Richard Grayson, Margaret Field and Marta Mitrovich, "Drums in the Deep South" (1951) co-starring James Craig, Barbara Payton, Guy Madison, Barton MacLane, Louis Jean Heydt and Craig Stevens, "No Escape" (1953) starring with Lew Ayres, Sonny Tufts and Marjorie Steele, "Dragnet" (1954) Jack Webb, Ben Alexander, Richard Boone, Ann Robinson, Stacy Harris and Virginia Gregg, "Apache Ambush" (1955) starring alongside Richard Jaeckel, Alex Montoya, Movita, Adelle August, Tex Ritter, and Ray 'Crash' Corrigan, George Chandler, "Rebel in Town" (1956) co-starring John Payne, Ruth Roman, J. Along with his film career he added over seventy television appearances to his resume with such series credits as, "The Lone Ranger", "Gunsmoke", "Zane Grey Theatre", "Perry Mason", "Cavalcade of America", "City Detectives", "Waterfront", "Dragnet", 'Frontier", "Zorro", "Code 3", "M Squad", "Trackdown", "Annie Oakley", "The Gene Autry Show" and "Cimarron City" among many others.
Some of his final acting roles were on the series, "Shotgun Slade", "The Lawless Years", "Wagon Train", "Buffalo Bill Jr.", "Bonanza", "The Deputy", "Lock Up", "Checkmate", "Sheriff of Cochise", "The Range Rider", "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "Ramar of the Jungle", "Little House on the Prairie" (1975-1982), "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger" and "Trapper John, M.D." (1984). He then retired from the industry and lived in Avila Beach, California up until his death on September 17th, 1993 at the age of seventy seven.
