Howard Duff was born on November 24th, 1913 in Bremerton, Washington with the middle name Green.  He attended Roosevelt High School and excelled in basketball.  He also first developed an interest in acting while in high school and would participate in a number of school plays.  After high school, he went on to study drama and then took a brief break from pursuing a career in the industry to serve his country joining the Army.
After completing his military service, he first became involved in the entertainment industry working on the radio on the show, "Sam Spade" (1946-1950).  Soon he began adding to his resume stage, film and television roles.
His career lasted over four decades and began with working on a number of Universal Pictures films such as, "Brute Force" (1947).  He soon began also making television appearances on such series as, "The Naked City" (1947) and "All My Sons" (1948).

When film roles began to become less available to him, he turned his focus on television acting working on such series as, "Lux Video Theatre", "Mr. Adams and Eve", "Felony Squad", "Bonanza", "Twilight Zone", "Burke's Law", "Combat!", "Simon & Simon", "Island Sons", "Knots Landing", "Midnight Caller", "The Golden Girls" and his final role was in 1990 in the film, "Too Much Son".
Howard Duff married twice, first to actress and director, Ida Lupino in 1966 and after a fifteen year highly publicized marriage and one child, they separated and were officially divorced by 1984.  He then married his second wife, Judy Jenkinson and they remained married until he passed away at the age of seventy six from a heart attack on July 8th, 1990 in Santa Barbara, California.
