HENRY STEPHENSON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Henry Stephenson was born on April 16th, 1871 in Granada, British West Indies with the birth name Henry Stephenson Garroway. He received his early years education in England and it was not until his twenties that he began finding work as an actor.
He began his career as a stage actor in England and later also performing in America. Soon he began adding Broadway credits to his resume in such productions as, "A Message from Mars" (1901).
Along with working as a stage actor he also broke into the film industry appearing in a number of silent films such as, "The Spreading Dawn" (1917) with Jane Cowl, Orme Caldara and Harry Springer, "The Tower of Jewels" (1920) starring Corinne Griffith, Webster Campbell and Maurice Costello, "Men and Women" (1925) starring Richard Dix, Claire Adams and Neil Hamilton, "Wild, Wild Susan" (1925) starring with Bebe Daniels and Rod La Rocque and "Cynara" (1932) starring Ronald Colman, Kay Francis, Halliwell Hobbes and Phyllis Barry.
Stephenson now decided to stay living in Hollywood and began working with such film studios as MGM, RKO and Warner Brothers appearing in more prominent film roles such as, "Captain Blood" (1935) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Lionel Atwill, Basil Rathbone, Guy Kibbee, Jesse Ralph, Robert Barrat, Donald Meek, Ross Alexander, Halliwell Hobbes, J. Carroll Naish, Hobart Cavanaugh, Pedro de Cordoba and Frank Puglia, "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (1936) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Patric Knowles, C, Henry Gordon, David Niven, Nigel Bruce, Robert Barrat, J. Carroll Naish, Spring Byington, Donald Crisp, Charles Sedgwick and Scotty Beckett, "The Prince and the Pauper" (1937) starring Errol Flynn, Barton MacLane, Montague Love, Claude Rains, Robert Warwick, Halliwell Hobbes, Alan Hale Sr. and twins Billy and Bobby Mauch as Prince Edward and King Edward VI, "The Private Lives of Essex and Elizabeth" (1939) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Bette Davis, Donald Crisp, Nanette Fabray, Robert Warwick, Ralph Forbes, Leo G. Henry Stephenson married only once to Ann Shoemaker and they had one child together and remained married until he passed away at the age of eighty five on April 25th, 1956 in San Francisco, California.
