HELEN TWELVETREES BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Helen Twelvetrees was born on December 25th, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Helen Marie Jurgens. From a young age, she developed an interest in theatrical arts and directly after earning her high school diploma she began her pursuit of a career as a stage actress.

She began with working on the New York Stage circuit before she decided to relocate to Los Angeles and pursue a career in films. Her first film role was in 1928 in, "The Ghost Talks" followed by two more roles that year in, "Words and Music" and "Blue Skies".

A her career progressed, she developed a decent fan base and continues to appear on the big screen in such features as, "A Woman of Experience" (1931), "Is My Face Red?" (1932), "State's Attorney" (1932), "Times Square Lady" (1935), "The Spanish Cape Mystery" (1935), "Thoroughbred" (1936) and her final film role in, "Unmarried" (1939).

Twelvetrees then decided to leave Hollywood and pursued working as a stage actress in summer stock and her Broadway debut in, "Boudoir" (1941). She then for the most part retired from acting and moved to Pennsylvania with her husband.

Throughout her lifetime she married a total of three times. Her first husband was Jack Woody whom she wed in 1931 and after having one child this marriage came to an end in 1936. She then married, Clark Twelvetrees in 1927 but by 1931, this marriage also ended in divorce. Her third husband was Conrad Payne whom she remained with until she passed away.

Sadly, at the age of forty nine her life was cut short when she overdosed on sedatives and passed away on February 13th, 1958 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Her remains were cremated and buried in Middletown Cemetery near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
