HELEN HUNT BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Helen Hunt was born on June 15th, 1963 in Los Angeles, California with the middle name Elizabeth. At the age of eight she began studying acting with her dad, Gordon Hunt who was a director and acting coach. Her mother, Jane Elizabeth worked as a photographer. She began acting as a child actor and has continued in the industry going strong ever since.
Some of her early film roles were in, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Bionic Woman" and a recurring role on, "The Swiss Family Robinson". During the mid 1980's she also had a recurring role on the series, "St. Elsewhere" and also portrayed the character, Jennie in, "Bill: On His Own".
She was raised in New York City and attended college at the University of California at Los Angeles. As she made the transition from child actor to adult actress, Hunt did so with ease. She was seen on the big screen in the film, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (1985) and became very well known from her television role, "Mad About You" (1992-1999) for which she won Emmy's four years in a row from 1996-1999.
With her increased popularity from, "Mad About You", she was cast in the film, "As Good as it Gets" (1997) for which she won an Academy Award for her performance. Highly successful roles continued her way such as, "Dr. T & the Woman", "Pay it Forward", "What Women Want" and "Cast Away", all released in the year 2000.
Not only did Helen Hunt make quite an impression on the big screen she also worked as a stage actress taking time off from her film career appearing in such productions as, "Twelfth Night". Hunt also owns a production company called, Hunt/Tavel Productions which is associated with Sony Pictures Entertainment. She directed many of the episodes on, "Mad About You" and her directing film debut was, "Then She Found Me".
Hunt has married only one time to Hank Azaria in 1999 and the couple divorced one year later. She has not re-married but is currently involved with Matthew Carnahan who is a producer, director and writer and they have one daughter together, Makena Lei Gordon Carnahan.
