HANK WORDEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Hank Worden was born on July 23rd, 1901 in Rolfe, Iowa with the birth name Norton Earl Worden. His family raised him on a ranch in Montana and after high school he attended the University of Nevada and Stanford University and studied engineering.
He first pursued a career as a Army pilot and later toured the country performing in rodeos, and found work as a cab driver in New York as well as a wrangler guide for the trails in the Grand Canyon. Soon he was given the chance to appear on Broadway in the play, "Green Grow the Lilacs" after he was seen in a rodeo in Madison Square Garden in New York.
Over the course of his career he appeared in a number of films with Tex Ritter billed as Heber Snow and also worked with John Wayne in seventeen films. His film debut was as an extra in, "The Plainsman" (1936) starring Gary Cooper, Jean Arthur and Charles Bickford and he followed this role with joining the John Ford Stick Company and breaking into more film and television work.
Although many of his film roles were un-credited some of the more well known ones included, "Northwest Passage" (1943) starring Spencer Tracy and Buddy Ebsen, "Jack London" (1943) starring Michael O'Shea and Susan Hayward, "The Indian Fighter" (1955) starring Kirk Douglas, "The Searchers" (1956) starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Ken Curtis, Harry Carey Jr., Vera Miles, Natalie Wood and Ward Bond, "Accused of Murder" (1956) starring David Brian and Vera Ralston, "Spoilers of the Forest" (1957), "Forty Guns" (1957) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Barry Sullivan, Gene Barry, John Ericson and Dean Jagger, "The Alamo" (1960) directed by and also starring John Wayne and an all star cast, "McLintock!" (1963) starring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, Chill Wills, Yvonne De Carlo, Stefanie Powers, Edgar Buchanan, Jerry Van Dyke, and a host of others, "Good Times" (1967), "Big Jake" (1971), "Flush" (1977), "Which Way is Up?" (1977) starring Richard Pryor, "Every Which Way But Loose" (1978) starring Clint Eastwood, "Scream" (1981), "Space Rage" (1985) starring Richard Farnsworth and "Almost and Angel" (1990).
Along with his many film roles he also appeared on a number of television series throughout his lifetime such as, "Sheriff of Cochise", "Petticoat Junction", "Climax!", "Gunsmoke", "Iron Horse', "Daniel Boone', "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "Bonanza", "Wagon Train", "The Lone Ranger" and "The Beverly Hillbillies".
Hank Worden married only once to Emma Louise Eaton in 1940 and he had one daughter who was adopted as an adult. They remained married until she passed away in 1977. He then lost his life on December 6th, 1992 in Los Angeles, California.
