Being exposed to the industry from such an young age seemed only normal for her to pursue a career as a child actress.  At the young age of six, Gwen first appeared on the big screen in the film, "The King Steps Out" (1936) followed by a number of other small roles before receiving her big break in 1953 in a stage production of, "Can Can" followed by her first major film role, "Damn Yankees" (1958).

Prior to that she appeared with Tyrone Power in "The Mississippi Gambler".

Along with her film work she also added a number of stage credits to her resume such as, "Sweet Charity", "New Girl In Town", "Chicago" and "Redhead".  For the remainder of her career she mostly focused on television work adding appearances on such series as, "Love, American Style", "Fame!", "All My Children" Gimme A Break", "All is Forgiven", "Hotel", "Webster", "Dear John", "Key West", "Touched By an Angel" and "Walker, Texas Ranger".

Gwen Verdon married twice, first to James Henaghan in 1942 and they had one son together before the marriage ended in divorce in 1947.  She then married Bob Fosse in 1960 and they had a daughter together and remained married until he passed away on 1987.  Along with her daughter they created the stage musical, "Fosse".  Verdon passed away on October 18th, 2000 in Woodstock, Vermont after suffering from a heart attack.
