GLORIA WINTERS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
 
Gloria Winters was born on November 28th, 1931 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Gloria Carolyn Hirst.  She was raised in the San Fernando Valley and then moved closer to Hollywood finding work as a child actress.
 
From a young age she took dance lessons and began appearing in a number of short films as well as in an, "Our Gang" short.  She was also cast as, "Babs", the daughter of Jackie Gleason on the series, "The Life of Riley" (1949).  
 
Some other roles she added to her resume were on such films as, "Driftwood" (1947), "El Paso" (1949), "The Lawless" (1950), "Gambling House" (1950) and a number of television series such as, "The Lone Ranger", "The Range Rider" and her most well known role as teenage, Penny King in the television series, "Sky King" (1952-1959).  Gloria also had a recurring role on the series, "Where's Raymond?" (1953-1955) starring Ray Bolger.
 
Her last two appearances were on, "Frontier Doctor" (1959) and "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" (1960) and then she decided to retire from the industry.  She later dedicated her time to writing, and published her first novel in 1964 titled, "Penny's Guide to Teen-Age Charm and Popularity".  In 2002 she was honored with the Motion Picture & Television Fund's Golden Boot Award for her contribution to Western film and Television.  
 
She met her husband, Dean Stevens Vernon, a sound engineer on the set of, "Sky King" and they married in 1959 and remained together until he passed away on August 3rd, 2001.  She lived in Vista, California and remained in her home until, Gloria Winters passed away on August 14th, 2010, after suffering from complications from pneumonia.  Her remains are interred beside her husband at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
