GEORGE NADER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
George Nader was born on October 19th, 1921 in Pasadena, California and developed an interest in acting while in High School. Since he lived near Hollywood, it was not so hard to focus on a career as an actor. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Occidental College and then began to pursue acting fulltime.
Nader began by working as a stage actor at the Pasadena Playhouse and then was cast in some films with very minor roles. Soon he was given his first big break in the film, "Robot Monster" (1953), which actually turned out to be unsuccessful at the box office, however for his career, it lead to a contract with Universal Pictures.
He was a very good looking man and very physically appealing, however so were many of universal Pictures other male contract actors and therefore, Nader was often not given the roles of his choice.
Some of his film roles in the early 50's were, "Sins of Jezebel" (1953), "Miss Robin Crusoe" ( 1954), "Four Guns to the Border" (1954), "The Second Greatest Sex" (1955) and "Congo Crossing" (1956). He did slightly better in television being seen on such series as, "The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse" (1954) and "The Public Defender" (1954). After being seen in the film, "Away All Boats" (1956) starring Jeff Chandler he began to turn his focus 100% to television.
George Nader is remembered for his role on the NBC adventure, "The Man and the Challenge" (1959-1960) and some of his later career role on, "Shannon" (1961-1962), "Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law" (1972), "The F.B.I" (1972) and "Nakia" (1974).
Nader never formally married nor had any children of his own. It came out in the media that he was actually homosexual and had a life partner, Mark Miller. When his career in Hollywood proved itself to be coming to an end, he relocated to Europe with Miller and appeared in some European films and also embarked on a career as a writer for Science Fiction novels such as his 1978 release, "Chrome". His novels centered around homosexual situations.
He returned back to live in the United States after dealing with a number of medical issues. He passed away on February 4th, 2002 in Woodland Hills, California after suffering from cardiac pulmonary failure as well as pneumonia and a number of cerebral infractions. His ashes were scattered at sea and he is survived by his partner, Miller.
