EUGENE GORDON 'PORKY' LEE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Eugene Gordon 'Porky' Lee was born on October 25th, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas with the birth name Gordon Eugene Lee and was adopted. He became a child actor and was most well remembered for his appearances in the, "Our Gang" series also known as The Little Rascals playing the character, "Porky" from 1935 through 1939.
His acting career began when producer Hal Roach took notice of him at only eighteen months old. He felt that he very much resembled the "Our Gang" star, George 'Spanky' McFarland. His family relocated to California and he was chosen to join the cast. Throughout the series he appeared in a total of forty two, "Our Gang" series such as, "Bear Facts" (1938), "The Awful Tooth" (1938), "Aladdin's Lantern" (1938), "Tiny Troubles" (1939), "Clown Princes" (1939) and his final appearance was in 1939 on the short, "Joy Scouts".
In 1938, the group moved from being under production with Hal Roach over to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer when the series was sold. His character was later replaced by Robert Blake when he became to thin to play the role of, "Porky".
After retiring from the industry he pursued a career as a school teacher in Colorado and later relocated to Minnesota so he could work and live closer to his only son. In the early 1980's he did return to acting briefly to appear at a number of, "Little Rascals" reunions and he also became involved in selling merchandise related to his character, "Porky".
He passed away on October 16th, 2005 in Minneapolis, Minnesota after suffering from lung and brain cancer at the age of seventy one.
