Edward Herrmann ACTOR




EDWARD HERRMANN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Edward Herrmann was born on July 21st, 1943 in Washington, in the District of Columbia.  His parents were Jean Eleanor and John Anthony Herrmann.  He was raised in Michigan and after high school he earned a college degree from Bucknell University in 1965.  He then went on to study drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts on a scholarship.
 
Similar to many other actors starting out in the industry, he began with working as a stage actor.  Some of his early stage roles were in such productions as, "Moonchildren" and on Broadway in, "Mrs. Warren's Profession" for which he won a Tony award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play.
 
Other roles he soon added to his resume were on such television movies as, "Eleanor and Franklin" (1976) and "Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years" (1977).  He also appeared on such television series as, "The Practice", "St. Elsewhere", "Oz" and "The Gilmore Girls".
 
Along with television roles he also worked on a number of films such as, "Annie" (1982), "Here Come the Munsters" (1995), "The Great Waldo Pepper" (1973), "Paper Chase" (1973), "The Betsy" (1978), "Overboard" (1987), "The Purple Rose of Cairo" (1985) and "The Lost Boys" (1987).
 
He has also added a number of Dodge commercials to his resume doing voice over work as well as using his voice on a variety of audio books.  He is also the host of such shows as, "Automobiles" on the History Channel.
 
Some of his more recent roles have been in the television series, "Better With You" (2011), "Drop Dead Diva" (2011), "The Good Wife" (2010-2012) and the television movies, "A Christmas Wish" (2011) and "The Christmas Pageant" (2011).  Most recently he has done a video for, "Treasure Buddies". 
 
Throughout his lifetime he has married twice.  His first wife was Leigh Curran whom he wed in 1978 and they had three children before their marriage came to an end.  He then married Star Benson in 1992 and they have two children together and remain married today.
