Dyan Cannon ACTOR

Dyan Cannon was born on January 4th, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington with the birth name Samile Diane Friesen, born to parents Claire and Ben Frieson.  From a young age she had aspirations of pursuing a career as an actress.  After graduating from West Seattle High School she began to focus on her dream.  She also attended for a brief time, The University of Washington but did not obtain a degree.
She relocated to California in order to begin trying to find work as an actress and was actually discovered while having lunch one day on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, California.
Her first small film role was in, "Have Gun - Will Travel" in 1958 followed by her first major film role in 1960 in, "The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond".  She also added to her resume early on roles in such television series as, "77 Sunset Strip", "Gunsmoke", "Two Faced West" and "Wanted Dead or Alive".
She was soon cast in the successful film, "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" (1969) for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress as well as two Golden Globe nominations.  In 1971 she received another Academy Award nomination for her role on the film, "Such Good Friends".
Along with working as an actress she also wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film, "Number One" (1976) for which she received an actress Oscar nomination for Best Short Film. 
As her career progressed she graced the big screen in films such as, "Revenge of the Pink Panther" (1978) and "Heaven Can Wait" (1978) earning another Oscar nomination and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Added to her credits over her career in the industry was a chance at hosting, 'Saturday Night Live" (1976), a role in the films, "Honeysuckle Rose" (1980), "That Darn Cat" (1997), "8 Heads in a Duffel bag" (1997), "Out to Sea" (1997) and "Kangaroo Jack" (2003).
Television was also a large part of her resume with appearances on, "The Practice", "Ally McBeal" and "Three Sisters".  Her most recent appearances have been on the television movies, "A Kiss at Midnight" (2008) and "Women Without Men" (2010). 
Throughout her lifetime she has married twice.  Her first husband was Cary Grant whom she wed in 1965 and after having one daughter together this marriage came to an end in 1968.  She then married Stanley Fimberg in 1985 but by 1991 this marriage also came to an end.
