DWAYNE HICKMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Dwayne Hickman was born on May 18th, 1934 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Dwayne Bernard Hickman. His older brother, Darryl Hickman was involved in the acting industry and so Dwayne chose to follow in his brothers footsteps.
By the age of six, he was already appearing on the big screen in the film, "The Grapes of Wrath" and some of his early film roles as a child actor were in, "Captain Eddie" (1945) and "The Return of Rusty" (1946). He then took a break from acting to complete his education and pursue a college degree at Loyola University, earning a Bachelor of Economics.
When Hickman returned to Hollywood he made appearances on, "The Bob Cummings Show" (1955) and "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" (1959).
Although he was working in the industry and seen quite often, he was unable to overcome his typecast character. Therefore, he remained working in entertainment but on the other end as a publicist, Las Vegas Entertainment Director and a program executive for CBS where he supervised such series as, "Maude", "M.A.S.H." and "Designing Woman".
He also wrote his biography titled, "Forever Dobie" in 1994 with his current wife, Joan Roberts whom he wed in 1983 and together they have one son, Albert Thomas Hickman. He is also an artist and along with his wife who is also his business partner, his artwork is published in various publications as well as displayed in a number of galleries.
On occasion he has stepped back in front of the camera such as on the film, "A Night at the Roxbury" (1998) and he had a recurring role on the series, "Clueless" (1996-1999). Prior to his marriage to Joan, he was married twice before. First to Carol Christensen in 1963 and they had one son, John before the marriage ended in 1972. His second marriage was to Joanne Purtle Papile from 1977 through 1981. Dwayne and his wife and son currently reside in Los Angeles, California.
